I’m replacing the three heater core hoses preventatively. Just not something I want to wait around till they fail. Coolant flush while I’m at it.
I wanted to clean up the throttle bodies, replace the air tube seals, service the injectors and replace the rear cam sensor preventatively since the throttle bodies would be off. Super simple with the TBs removed.
Small update. It was time to replace the blower motor. The squeaking got unbearable. I bought an OE replacement but the design was revised from the original. The new unit wouldn’t fit into the old style bracket.
Old
Behr OE
I ended up having to return the OE and go with the BMW brand as it included the new bracket needed. In case anyone was wondering, Bosch still makes the OE for BMW and doesn’t seem to be available as a standalone brand.
I love new OE parts. Way to go. Sometimes I wish my car were back to original so I could so this stuff all over again, so rewarding!
Thank you! It’s definitely been fun and rewarding. It’s hard to not get caught up in the weeds of replacing everything. I’m trying to pick a place to stop but there always seems to be one more thing to do!
Knocking out a project that was on the back burner for a bit. When I got the car I noticed the driver side door glass was not BMW and the window went up slow-ish. Nothing on carfax. There was a nice gash on the trim where it appears the glass didn’t drop and when the door was slammed closed, it shattering the glass...maybe.
I will be replacing the door glass to BMW, the regulator with BMW since the OE isn’t available and the foam vapor barrier since the original was trashed (probably from the shop replacing the glass the first time).
Lazy installer mangled the foam, will be replacing this
Removing the old glass first
Old regulator out
New regulator going in
I ordered the glass online and came well packed. The glass was pretty cheap otherwise I would have left it.
Yass, big fan of your restoring as well. How is the PARECL clean up doing? I am looking to do this job soon, I figured your VEGAS heat is a good test on products and process.
I am thinking of refreshing my MAF as well! Have no idea its condintion other than the car runs... I am betting its OEM @ 80K
