You should be able to get a replacement sticker. Try calling K&N and see if they will send you a replacement. They may need you to take a picture of the intake installed, it should avoid the hassle of trying to find stock intake components.

I was not aware of this, but regardless, I dont have a sticker, thats particularly what he wrote on the citation, so I’ll have to check the part number on it. That would probably help for court, but there is no way the car will pass smog and the rest of the state ref requirementsOriginally posted by elrichmeister View Post
Isnt the K&N air intake kit CARB legal? Look up the model of the air intake on K&N website and get the CARB EO number, should be able to pass the state ref?

Typically, no. Police practically can do whatever they want in this state. Chances are, it wont hold up in court, I already have a lawyer handling the case for me, but it’s gonna be 5-8 months before I can drive my car again.
They 100% should not be doing this to out of state vehicles, but the vehicle code is written in a way that doesn’t necessarily stop them.
I have a basic K&N intake, if you’re at all interested in it.

Hope you can get this resolved sooner than 5-8mo!

Not for those parts, no. The SMG airbox has the SMG reservoir attached but since you’re looking at elbow down then any will do.Originally posted by Chanman1029 View PostI just need the elbow, the airbox/filter housing, and the connection to the scoop. There’s no difference between 6-spd and smg with those parts is there?

Just of curiosity, is that really CA SOP for encounters with out of state registration? Unreal.
If you're interested in selling your airbox, I may be interested depending on the setup. Feel free to PM me.

OEM airbox
I recently got state ref’d by someone who probably got bullied in high school. Even though I have an out of state license and registration, I’d prefer to install a stock airbox to avoid any future problems with police
Located in San Diego, local pick up with be ideal, but will pay shipping if reasonable.
I’ll also add, I’m a bit of a neat freak, so if you’re airbox is faded or has visible scratches/gouges, I will respectfully pass on the opportunity
My car is a 6 speed, I have a K&N intake if anyone is at all interested in it.
