It makes me laugh, there is a thread on Z3M coupe saying how a CSL is no better and now a thread on here saying how shit the e92 m3 compared to the CSL!
Get real guys, this is not a fair comparison.
Where the E92 Wins
Its newer, more refined, comfy, quick
The CSL is crap at daily driving and being practical - fact.
The CSL is totally obnoxious for daily use - fact.
Straight line speed, the e92 is quicker
Takes the road better than the CSL (with EDC).
Its a V8
However, it lacks the soul the CSL has, the sound, the handling (although the E92 does handle well), the CSL feels old in comparison.
Ultimately youre not comparing apples with apples here guys!

Absolute Bollocks :smt047
Used Every single day rain / sun / snow and on KW's with Supersprint race exhaust.
Cant see what the problem is, if you want to sit in comfort, sit on your sofa at home and watch TV
There not the same cars at all agreed.. love the new one for it is would not have it over the CSL ever or a GT3... as well as ohh yes

I have been using mine this week for work why I have been swapping the cylinder head on my Cooper S.
It's just an awesome car and it lashed it down today but love driving it:hahaha:
Would use it everyday but don't want to put tooooo many miles on it, 26K miles are getting nearer!!:bigcry::hahaha:

I have no idea what you do for a living but turning up at work in a suit and driving to customers in a milltek'd CSL that fails the sound test at Bedford certainly isn't tame.
The e92 m3 is performance without shouting 'look at me'.

Totally agree, GT3 / F430 etc etc is look at me... CSL is another 3 series to people who are unaware, but for those that care its special and up there for enjoyment levelsOriginally posted by s.mac View PostI don't think the CSL stands out. I think it can sit in a car park without anyone noticing it, unless they know what it is, I may be wrong ?

Each to there own I guess, and yes I visit customers, run a sales team for a very large corporate company, and do not have to wear a suit to do business, they like the fact that I don't rock up in the stereo typical 2.4 salesmans std issue grey diesel !!Originally posted by Rags View PostI have no idea what you do for a living but turning up at work in a suit and driving to customers in a milltek'd CSL that fails the sound test at Bedford certainly isn't tame.

Rags, you know it doesn't need spelling out that this is a CSL enthusiasts site. What exactly do you expect? We love the car and everyone has their opinion and drives the car that suits them. Of course there are better cars around. The E92 M3 is a great car. But for me, when I had the choice it couldn't replace the CSL. I want a raw, no-frills, no compromise experience and for me that's a CSL or GT3.Originally posted by Rags View PostYou guys totally missed my point.
The loudness of the CSL with a milltek, its not exactly subtle!
Anyway, im done with trying to convince people on a CSL forum that there are cars as good available in the world!:hahaha:
Like Daz, I drove my CSL for a year as my daily driver and loved it, long or short journey's. Not a problem and certainly none of my clients even noticed apart from the one's that recognised the car for what it is.
So, instead of buying a new M3 I changed things around, kept the CSL in the garage for track and weekends and bought something else for day to day.
Each to their own n'all that.
