Nearly bought a set of 18" through Shimmy's contact (money in hand ready to be spent) but they were completely out of stock :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:
Something to do with a certain CSL owner buying one too many sets

Ding Ding, times two please :-)

Can't remember if I mentioned but I have Pro2000 in the evo and was going to do the same again. Harnesses - I have Scroth Enduro harness in the evo which are fantastic. Just shot up in price, shame cos they are miles easier to adjust...

I won't bother with a carbon roof, as I've no sunroof the weight saving is minimal, probably < 5Kg.

Brakes turned up today, alcon kit 365 front, 343 rear.

I'm probably not going to do anything engine wise but if I ever did, yours sounds the same route I'd take. A light touch ;-)

yes, certainly sounds like two identical cars !

Have stripped my M3, Sparco pro2000 seats on sparco sliders and mounts fit perfect.

Rear cage from custom cages with subframe strengthening from the cage and CSL carbon roof fitted by Simpson.

            Battery ditched for Braille item.

I use TD 18x9 et30 all round then run 15mm spacers at the rear. tyres are 265 all round as well. No rubbing issues. Turn in is amazing. Am using the Kumho ecsta v70a they are brilliant tyres. Saves on tyre wear as you can put them front and rear!

Have AP brakes all round. Pagid RS29 pads.(yellow)

Suspension is Intrax 4 way, bought secondhand for a good price. I have used KW v3, Bilstein PSS10, HSD's, and now intrax. I can honestly say the Intrax are by far the better suspension, night and day. If i were you i would get some Intrax 1K2's secondhand, have seen a few for sale recently on here and ebay. You cannot go wrong with them. Talk to Simpson Motorsport if in any doubt.

CSL trailing arm bushes with Turner motorsport limiter kit

Turner motorsport ARB's front and rear body roll is greatly reduced. suspension helps with this also obviously.

Carbon CSL bootlid, Carbon GTR bonnet.

CSL intake, alpha-n mapping, schrick 288/280 cams, ARP Head and Conrod bolts, Full Supersprint exhaust with stepped headers.

            Car is a monster!

                Oh I just picked up 4 x DZ03G in 265/35/18 for £169 a corner.

                ...

                ...

:bigcry: no, sadly not. They are indeed £275. FFS thats ridiculous.

The evo takes a 285/30/18 which are £190 a corner. Right enough, even back in August 2009 I saw a price of £260 for the 265/30/18. Fcuk knows why you have to pay through the nose for less rubber, but there you go.

I'm doing this project to really learn the art of RWD and it can be argued that sticky tyres aren't the way to do that. Putting pricey rubber aside, it boils down to a choice of:

                Federal SS-595 £81
                Kumho KU31 £110
                Falken FK-452 £115
                Hankooks £134

                hmmmmm

Yes, but don't believe the yellow. I know a man at alcon who pulled the engineering sheets, its the exact same kit that alcon sell under their brand. Same kit as on the front of my evo. I nabbed it from Thorney because you can't argue with someone who has them on the shelf ready to ship (minus some hoses which took 2 weeks too long to come in)

So currently the car is on track (no pun intended) to look exactly like this one:

although I have some ideas on the colour....

Federa 595RS in 265/35/18 was sub £140 a corner when I bought them. Worth a look Matt. I took a friend of yours out 2 weeks ago as he was interested in their performance so perhaps he can give you a first hand comparison as I assume he has also passengered in your car.

Once you've used Dunlops / Mich. Cups it's difficult to go backwards mate
@ £140 they sound too cheep to me and U know what they say about " You get what you pay for "
KUMHO V70A is a superior tyre to the Federa 595RS and for a fraction more. No brainer

Well, the brakes are on :-)

Todays challenge was to find some 265/35/18s in stock, cos we leave for the 'ring at 1AM....

on a sameday basis beggars cant be choosers, so discounting the tyres-of-inappropriateness (Mich PS2s, Conti Sports etc) it boiled down to

                            Federal 595
                            Hankook K110

The tread pattern looks lovely on the 595, looks like a right cheapo trackday dry tyre. However they are only 93W rated, so common sense prevailed and I went for the Hankooks with 97Y. Heavy car (currently) with big stoppers, so makes sense I guess.

Nothing like buying a car and rushing it into "ring ready" spec :-)

Standard 19" Cup tyres are only 87/89 load ratings iirc
