Flamesuit on !
does make me chuckle when people refer to the CSL as a road legal race car. No its not, lets not get too excited lads ;-)
I have an actual road legal race car and guess what? You'd not want to drive it on the road anywhere.
I've a deposit down on a GT2 RS - now that is indeed an interesting motor. Enough performance to qualify as a race car, but still refined enough you can pop to the shops :-)

You say that but when first insuring my CSL 2yrs back I was shocked at it coming out twice as much as a AM DB9 putting in the same market value, their reason was it was specified as a race spec road car. :whistle:Originally posted by titan View PostFlamesuit on !

Last time i checked a roll cage was mandatory for racing, hence not a race spec car ;-)
For me, if you want to get into the "what deems a road going race car?" then I'd say that the car must be capable of serious trackwork without upgrades. The CSL is not that car. A GT3 is.
My bro used to wind me up about the evo, the fact that you had to constantly keep checking it, everything was custom. He joked that the GT3 driver just turns up at a trackday, does the day and can go to work in it the next day...which is the truth.
very few cars can do decent trackwork without upgrades. My bro's R26R - about as close as you can get to a track car with its semislicks, cage, harnesses and buckets - fries the brakes, so they had to be upgraded.
assuming I turn out to be one of the 500 (porsche still haven't confirmed who's getting one) it will be a very interesting proposition. I've questioned many times whether its even worthwhile - no mere mortal should be let free with that amount of potential, but should I get one I can always sell it, probably for more and certainly for what I paid...

Fuck knows why Porsches put cages and full cages at that in road cars :smokin:
Because the drivers would look even more of a cock turning up to a trackday, full sparco race suit, gloves and boots with no roll cage:gayfight:

If someone chooses to wear a racecsuit and boots along with Nomex underpants then I choose not to laugh at them but just salute their freedom to choose. Just incase one day I wish I was wearing mine.!!!!!Originally posted by titan View PostDoes make me laugh when you see the suited+booted parade getting into their mean machines, just to peddle them around like they are flintstones powered. We prefer to jeans, t-shirt and trainers look, it commands respect just like the radical SR 'ring team ;-)
He who laughs last and all that!
