    Front springs sat correctly?

While removing my skirts yesterday  I noticed the below on the front O/S Strut...

Looking at the N/S after and it's similar. Never had front suspension work before (in 5 years) and had the wheels off hundreds of time before, why have I not noticed this before? :bigcry:
Do they need to be turned or are they sat ok? Warranty job as I'll have to remove the strut?

Is the end of the spring against anything? If not you would want to get it twisted over to the slot. That will also lower it maybe 10mm i guess.

Jesus Baz, there is 30 seconds at the ring right there

Yes just twist the spring round until it is seated, see how the top is too if you can.

        Car on axle stands,
        Remove front wheels,
Jack the front wishbone up to take pressure of spring, (simulating car sat on ground on wheels)
Undo top mount nut then slowly lower jack, when enough pressure is released from the spring you can then twist it,
Then slowly jack up making sure spring seats correctly.
Fit and tighten top mount nut.

If you were close to me it would take 10 mins per side.

Workshop procedure is strut off, but it can be done in situ.

A few mm ish drop is not going to alter castor or camber settings one little bit IMO.

I would just do it myself, it's piss easy. And I see you have access to equipment.

That spring is seated correctly - the bottom of the CSL spring is "triangulated" - i.e. it doesn't swivle at all as there's only on way it will go on and seat on the strut. The end of the spring doesn't sit in that pocket in the photo but further back because of the triangulation.

I'll get a photo and show you.

NZ_M3 is right they look at first glance they should sit up against a stop but they dont if you move it to the stop the spring will be overhanging its mount to much and may cause you issues .

                      Update.

Ok, I done what was said above and turned the spring until it was sat in the little pocket. On lowered the car back down (i.e. Lifting the strut with the jack) I noticed that the spring wanted to over hang the bottom of the strut and wasn't too keen if I'm honest. I soldiered on though and got both done but haven't been for a test drive yet. Now worried I have to say.

Spring could hand off it then, might collapse maybe.
