If it is sorn does it not invalidate your insurance???

No I do not think so. I think it is one of those myths like if you have not got an MoT it is not insured. All you are doing is taking it off the road after all. In essence that means the insurers are collecting the premium and their only risk is fire or theft which are both very small.
