Give it 10 years and you can begin personal imports...

If you want a good one, I have one for £500k

I believe your referencing the 25 year rule? that would take a bit longer than 10 more years. Its such a Haggle importing cars into the US! everything is a sham here!.....had to wait 25 yrs to import a Sport Evo and all that's doing is costing me more $$:banghead:

The only way to do it legally so that the car can't be confiscated is to wait until the correct date.

I have heard of people buying them and then storing them waiting for that date before registering them (as obviously the prices are going to jump massively when there is a sudden demand for them from the US - look at what has happened to the prices of the Nissan R32 GTRs), but other than that you run the risk of losing the car if you try and register it as something else....

Juan Pablo Montoya. The ex F1 driver. Got given a CSL on account of Williams engine partnership with BMW....

Every other way runs the risk of being discovered and loosing the car. So this is down to you - I'm sure you know all the loopholes to get it there and registered, but as I am sure you are also aware (and is being discussed to death on the various US Japanese car forums), the car wouldn't be legitimate and doing it this way means that when the time comes to properly register it, you would be unable to do so. Cars already "registered" illegally cannot be then re-registered legitimately at a later date (unless you could fake all the dates of the shipping / import documents), but again, being discovered will mean you will loose the car. Once it is "faked" it has to stay "faked" and hope that no-one ever finds out it is what it is and was brought in illegitimately.

However, given that every BMW nerd will INSTANTLY recognise it's illegality, I personally think it is a huge risk of being snitched on (unless you never plan on showing the car ANYWHERE).

I think the show and display is your safest bet, but probably not what you wanted to hear :blalalala:.

Thank You Mike!

Don't worry I'm an old fart & still enjoying the car.
