    Front Flippers now NLA

Apparently BMW have recently made the front slippers NLA ... well sort of.

You can't order these individually any longer - you can only buy them with the front bumper as one whole unit.

Seriously how stupid can BMW get.

That's Not Acceptable! as the flippers are probably the most prone item on the car, to damage.:bigcry:
To have to buy the complete bumper to obtain a single flipper is ridiculous (You can tell them I said so!)
I presume this also includes a substantial price increase, as its now being sold as a complete bumper kit - for the benefit of the Yanks? :smokin:

Just when you think they might be listening to the plight of owners, you receive a smack in the mouth for your efforts. :banghead:
Leaves questions to be asked; Have they dumped the Lithuanian sub-contractor? Have they took the hump at being locked out?

On a more positive note however, 'Mark' will have to go into full time production soon?

Sounds crazy but are you 100% sure on that one Tom ? Roland very recently mention they are available, in another "CSL Owners only" thread, link here: http://www.cslregister.com/forum/sho...t=10612&page=3 ... confused.com :smt017

When I last checked the system showed about 45 pieces each side. But the latest ETK now has a different part number for the left and right splitters and no pricing with the annotation "blank + core" and reference to the front bumper, denoting it is available but only with part 1 - i.e front bumper.

I am going to check on Monday also and see if the old part numbers still work, but from what I've seen it doesn't seem to work any more, only the new part number does.

                  New splitter part numbers are:
                  51117841797
                  51117841798

                    Hi Tom,

                    I don't know if you know this -> http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...catalogue.html

It looks like you can still order individual flippers but the bumper now comes with the flippers pre-installed.

Let's see what Roland finds out

The bumpers have always come with the splitters pre-installed - that was the only way you could buy them.

Before however the catalogue had individual price and piece volume you need - now it has a simple "Blank" + "Core" = bumper only.

Like I said the splitter part numbers have changed - which is strange.

Okay ... it seems I obtained some mis-information from another source about these splitters ... Just got word back from the parts Manager and he updated me with stock level and order possibilities with the splitters.

Both the old and new splitter part number 'are' available for order individually - it's a strange update to the BMW ETK system with the way they've added notes to it - still not sure what that's about.

Strange now however there's essentially two versions of the same thing - trying to find out what the difference is between the two and if there are price differences:

Old splitter part numbers: (plenty in stock)
                        51117896379
                        51117896380

New Splitter part numbers: (available to order individually, but low on stock)
                        51117841797
                        51117841798

Will update when I hear more on what the differences are.

                        Update:

The new splitters are about 110 euros cheaper than the old part numbered ones.

Can't confirm what the differences are however between the new and old part numbers. I am told they are made by different suppliers.

Isn't this just the two clips v four clips difference ?

I have both types and can compare in detail if required. Getting some new ones (four clips) was straightforward although they did come unlacquered.

SORRY guys, no news for today.
System isn't working, they set up a new one. :119: (never change a runing system)

I took mine off (to send to Mark) and compared old with new.

My right old one is part number 896380 and was made in Slovenia (by a Jana ?)
The replacement is 841798 made in Germany (I had them lacquered by BMW)

The new one still only has two clips (my mistake in previous post)

They are both a subtly different shape, most noticeably the lip that fits under the bodywork on the old one is deeper (better fit ?)

Very subtle differences, in shape, don't look like they are from the same mould

Hopefully the clips still line up closely enough and they'll still fit well enough. Anyway, keeping the brand new ones in the box and will get the original ones refurbed.

                              Hope this helps,

                              Mark
