That's why the original (SLOVENIAN) MK1 flippers don't pop out at high V-max speeds :smokin: unlike the later MK2 flippers which do :banghead:
This was evidenced on a recent EURO trip when KarbonKid & I had the BMW Press Car join our CSL mini convoy on our way back to Nurburgring when it's MK2 flipper poped out after some 160 mph + V-max sessions on the AUTOBAHN :119: ... while mine & KKs original MK1 flippers stayed perfectly in place. There were a few others with similar problems @ the Munich hotel car park.

BTW, THANX for sharing the pix Mark

My right old one is part number 896380 and was made in Slovenia (by a Jana ?)
The replacement is 841798 made in Germany (I had them lacquered by BMW)

They are both a subtly different shape, most noticeably the lip that fits under the bodywork on the old one is deeper (better fit ?)

Hopefully the clips still line up closely enough and they'll still fit well enough. Anyway, keeping the brand new ones in the box and will get the original ones refurbed.

    Hope this helps,

I can confirm the above, the new ones can pop out at 150mph+ but the originals stay put. I know this since I've one original and one new one fitted to my bumper and when I rocked up to the ferry at Rotterdam, the security guards told me I had some damage to my car! I knew straight away what it was though, so have since sourced 'MkI' flippers to be refurbed soon.

Interesting though that you can still buy the 'MkI's from BMW, if I've read that right.

It's worrying how easy they are to remove for "would be" thieves.....

It's worring how removable lots of parts of the CSL are for would be thieves....luckily most don't realise at the moment, hopefully stay that way.

By the way, the clips that come with the Mk2 flippers are also different to the Mk1 clips.
