To sell or not to sell?

I really hate thinking about this but it makes me very sad to see my car sat unused for months on end! Way too busy at the moment and can't see me driving it much this year either.

So, it leads me to the inevitable question of selling and I'm gutted to be even thinking about it to be honest. :bigcry: I haven't even had time to be on here at all in the last few months.

I'm right out of the loop value wise on these because it never crossed my mind before now, so what could I reasonably expect to sell for with the following info:

2003 M3 CSL, 84,000 miles, full service history, 3 owner car including me, all recalls done, Intrax, AP's all round, SS silenced centre section and light weight rear exhaust box.
Head gasket replaced at 65,000 miles by Simpson MS.
New clutch, flywheel at 55,000 miles by BMW.
Oil and filter change half way between all BMW services in my ownership.

My wife says I'm an idiot and I know most of my good friends here will say the same but it honestly pains me to walk past it every day, stored in my building at work, sad and lonely under it's cover.

£33k with all the kit I reckon mate.

But you won't sell it because the limited fun you do have (with us) is priceless. No excuse on lack if storage

Plus I'm currently in transit to South Wales to give you a warm slap for even starting this thread.

Aww dude, I feel your pain - I've been having the same thoughts of mine for the past few months...

I'm simply burying my head in the sand at the moment and trying not to think about it to be honest but every time I go in the garage she looks at me mournfully... I made the effort to take the car out for a Sunday drive a few weekends back with the missus and littlest one but all I could think about was how the car was too 'hardcore' to enjoy on the crap UK roads (with my mods anyway!) and the fact that I rarely get to enjoy her properly anymore :bigcry:

I am in the same situation, one young child and another baking.

          With two impracticle M3's.

CSL will have 45k on clock and new engine but I need something I can get use out of at weekends.

          Been thinking E9x M3 ish, M5 or New M3

Everytime I look at it I love it, misses says keep it but also need a family wagon.

I agree, it is madness but hard to justify when it's doing nothing and could put the money to better use. With a lot of property things happening for me right now it's making me think.

Wife is dead against me selling.

Ian, your right. Probably need a good mates trip to put it all back to normal again. I might have time to give it a run out later this week. I'll think again after that.

I often think about selling but I would only spend the money on shit.
It's paid for, it's not depreciating and when I do drive it I smile :smokin:

Fook, that is seriously the most sensible thing I ever heard you say mate. I'm in exact position / of same opinion. :smokin:

That's exactly where I was a few years ago, slightly different circumstances in that mine was a daily, but like Rob was too hardcore really with my mods for a daily with a little one, it's always hard when you've owned and had such great experiences with them, track days, trips etc BUT it's only a car at the end of the day, and there are other good things to sample out there that will still make you smile in a different way, variety is the spice of life.

If you put can afford or justify keeping it then no brainer, but if it's just as simple as wanting a Change and making better use of the funds, do it, we're all in the fortunate position to have had the opportunity to really enjoy these great cars over the years and make this place what it is, the box has been well and truly ticked, but there are a hell of a lot of other boxes out there to tick :smokin:..

Good points all round. With a sensible head on I should keep but make sure I take more advantage and use it on the odd day. It doesn't cost or owe me anything and doesn't depreciate.

I'm sure a drive out and looking forward to meeting up with everyone in a month or so will make me rethink.

On another point, there's really nothing out there that's reasonably affordable and floats my boat right now.
