    Bmw tis

    Hi mods

If you feel that this is highly illegal and shouldn't be on the website, feel free to remove this post.

But I just successfully installed this over the weekend and found it mighty useful for torque specs and DIYs.

It is the English BMW TIS that you can usually buy from ebay or I believe BMW directly.

    Bootleg copy here via torrent:

other links for the same torrent:

This is what you do once downloaded.

    1. Unzip the file and copy all to a dvd or CD (or use Alcohol 120% program - downloaded free trial from online - and mount the files on an emulated cd drive - use 'find image' function)

    2. Got to folder WIN95\BMW\TIS\setup.exe and run the file. It'll install a blue ADM icon on your desktop

    3. Got to folder WIN95\ODBC_xp (if your OS is Windows XP) and run the file ORACLIEN.MSI - it will install OBDC administrator to your computer

    4. Put the DVD/CD with the files from "1" above in your disc drive or if you did the emulation with Alcohol 120% just carry on with next step.

    5. Click on ADM icon and go to menu "TIS" and click on "install" - wait for it to do its magic and select the language you want.

    6. Click on the blue TIS icon now on your desktop to start BMW TIS and have fun reading.

I think it's "Technical Information Systems" in long form.

Basically dealership level documentation that includes information on
      - service information
      - repair instructions
      - technical data
      - tightening torque
      - inspection sheet
      - ect ect

It's part of the GT1 (Group Testing 1) system operation.

The other part of it is ETK - which has all the part numbers and prices for all vehicles.

When you buy it online from ebay there's 7 discs and you can buy a GT1 emulator with connectors - so basically you can service and program your own car.

So basically you see the documentations that the dealership sees whenever you take your car in for repair. Mighty useful. Think of it as a repair manual.

In the past BMW used to have update DVDs - but since the proliferation of bootleg copies, BMW have gone to direct online dealership links and downloads now - so they no longer put out DVDs as far as I am aware.

The latest copy you can get is the one posted above and includes the E9x series up till 2008.

As I have a personal GT1 diagnostic tool > You could install the DIS software in a laptop, but you need the specific head
                Which is quite expensive.

Also, yes the updates are done online (connecting through the internet in BMW's update server using the dealer's username/password).
                I have updates

Alex .. .where did you get the GT1 head from? ebay? How much was it How does it work? I've always wondered how those emulators work?

The guys in the States don't like them at all, as according to them running the GT1 off a laptop on Windows is risky especially if you are doing software uploads and it crashes.
