    Your advice please guy's?

I am referencing this to this thread and in particular this problem: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/c...le-help-please

Basically as most of you know my car went to Murkett's 1/2 weeks ago for an Inspection II Service and new clutch under warranty, I also emailed Andy/Adrian a list of fault's that I thought the car had, one of them being what I described as a 'sticky drivers door handle'.

I mentioned this to Adrian on the day of dropping the car off and he said they would get it looked at along with the other things, upon my return and picking the car up when questioned about it he said it was all ok, nothing wrong and they had 'greased it up' just in case, I advised it definaltey had a problem and I wanted to make sure it wasn't broken which they assured me it wasn't...

I now refer to the above thread and less than 2 weeks after the service the bloody door handle is fooked! :banghead:

My problem is now that I will have to more than likely drive back to Cambridge just to get a door handle fixed which is a costly and time consuming task! I wonder if it is covered under Warranty? If it is I bet Murkett's will try and charge me another £100 excess which I won't be happy with at all!

I've had a chat with a local independent who is very good and only in Southampton so 40 mins up the road for me and I've used them before on the old M3, he reckons circa £200 due to the labour costs and fiddly job fixing it, IF I go to Murkett's then it's £65 tank of fuel straight away that I won't get back and then £100 excess, is it really worth messing about for the sake of £30/£50 difference in price!?

I almost feel that Murkett's should sort this FOC as I clearly highlighted this problem to them and it wasn't dealt with properly, now the problem is way worse than it ever was before! :banghead:

I have called Murkett's to discuss this problem and sadly Andy is still off sick and Adrian is on leave until Tuesday next week, at the mo I've dropped Adrian a quick email for his return asking him to come back to me with his thought's on it...

What is the best plan of action that you guy's think?/ I'm really loathed to pay £200 for a fucking door handle when it should have been fixed properly in the first place IMO!?

I have to admit that I am surprised when reading all these changes under warranty in the UK CSLs.
BMW is in deep sh1t paying ALL these stuff.

Personally, I would fix it on my own since I don't trust them, but your closest BMW dealer.
Why everybody are going to Murketts ?
Don't the other BMW dealers know how to fix CSLs in England ?

very very common fault Dan, my passenger handle stuck then failed 3 years ago

Cost was £234.62 (inc £84 in parts) + vat in 2007.

If i were you i would ring Murketts and say that the fault you reported was not properly diagnosed and that you want to return but only if you can get it under the previous claim due to excess.

I think it can be an easy fix DIY but never tried.

Murkett's in this country Alex seem to be very highly regarded in the UK, of course there are other dealers who are more than capable of working on CSL's but I personally don't trust any that are local to me hence going on a recommendation, I have the Full Comprehensive warranty btw!

If it was previously reported then it should be under the same excess.

Same as if you report a fault and during the back and forth of getting it resolved the warranty runs out it should still be covered.

Yeah I see what you mean Nath, I agree it's exactly like insurance, if an incident happens within the indemnity period of the cover then it's still insured.

The inner door card isn't hard to remove - personally if it was me I'd repair this myself, it's not a hard job (unless something is actually broken inside (it's a possibility, but you won't know till you've remove the door card).

If you don't know how to remove it, surely there must be a member on here that lives close to you who knows how to remove door card that might be able to help you out?

I'll have a look on BMW TIS later to see if there's an instruction I can post up here for you.

Great thanks Tom, I'm out on a limb unfortunately! Is it basically clips as I can't see/feel any screws around the edges?

Basically 1 screw (behind chrome handle) + 2 door handle bolts and the rest are clips behind the door card and off it comes (finger behind the door card and pull hard - start from bottom front and work your way around slowly). When you pull back you have to unclip the opener connection on top and the speaker wire.

Once that's off you have to peel back the foam cover (be careful not to rip it, it's just held on by sticky silicon) and then look inside the door mechanism.

Dan, why is it that anything and everything that goes wrong with your car is a huge deal which clearly stresses you out?! :hahaha:

Anyway, have a look at this thread - it will give you some pointers for door card removal

I've posted this as it hopefully serves a purpose for any people wanting to get improved sound in their cars without cutting/drilling/fabricating anything. This isn't the most complex job in the world - but there's very little material out there for those who want to dabble in a bit of OEM+ Have been keen to improve the
