My plate was cloned a while back. Strange one as I was at work, police knocked on the door (this was in 2006 iirc). Policeman spoke to my husband.
Turns out some guy in an M3 got caught drink driving in London and had my reg plate on his car. Gave his name as Fernando Rodreigez. This was in 2004 and it took 2 years for the Met to transfer it to Kent and then come knocking at my door. The guy obviously skipped bail hence they came looking at my address.
What I don't understand is how if the plate was registered to my address, how he got away, at the scene, with giving false details - and name. the police accepting it. And also how the police did not realise it was not a CSL he was in :hahaha: :clown:

:hahaha::hahaha: :blalalala:Originally posted by shimmy View PostCloning details are very easy to get, especially for day to day cars. And with the 500,000 V5 blanks that were lost it has become by far the easiest and most profitable way of scamming cars.
But not sure how you got mistaken for Fernando! :hahaha:

the list is now up to 356 entries although my guess is that with duplications we probably have around 270 total.Originally posted by shimmy View PostThanks guys and gals, numbers going up by the day. Thanks for the dozens of PMs as well.
IF any of you guys see any CSLs please pass on details to me by forum or PM.
IN PARTICULAR at the moment i would like to rule out duplications which means getting previous names associated with OLD CSLs and particularly original number plates. For instance, if you have owned or own a CSL and run a private plate can you let me know original registered plate
