Going to view a car tomorrow at last

I'd just like to try and gather as much history on the car as possible, so if anyone knows anything, please let me know!

    Reg is: LA04 ZWE
    Milage: 107,000
Colour: The faster one (Silver Grey)

    Any help really appreciated

    thanks, James

Fook me 107k miles? Makes mine seem good on a 'mere' 68k

Where is the car advertised? Any options, upgrades, etc...

Thanks for the offer but i'll pass :hahaha:

Yes 107k miles, 60,000 of those have been done in the last couple of years though. Genuine motorway miles going back and fourth to Belgium.

It's not advertised anywhere yet, but it's Simpson's that are selling it. (please don't publicise this - first dibs )

Options are AC but no xenons

Ant has said they've checked the car everywhere possible, and found no damage on the car at all, no signs of track use, and no signs what-so-ever of subframe cracking.

They've done an inspection 2, fitted new disc's etc, refurbed the rims at Lepsons and had the front end resprayed to get rid of the stone chips. They've also replaced the front windscreen.

They tell me the interior is immaculate, and have seen 40,000 mile examples in much worse shape.

I trust Simpsons, but it would be nice to get some history on the car...

      James

That has to be the Highest Mileage CSL I've heard of anyway. The last record I seen was just over 90K. Don't let that put you off, as long as it has Full Service history, you could be onto a winner.

Any links? (Forget that, just seen above post)

          James,

You are right to trust Simpson - sounds like a good car

Yeah I've never herd of a higher mileage CSL, but at least I won't feel bad adding to the miles. Where as it would always be on my mind buying a 30/40k example and watching the miles creep up!

That's what I thought, but you never know - someone might have info from the past that Simpsons don't know.

More a curiosity thing really :smokin:

I bought my car when it was at 36k miles. I used to worry about putting too many miles onto it but when it turned 50k i just thought 'fook it' and now enjoy driving it without the worry

I do around 10k per year now.

Don't know previous history on the car or previous owners. I trust you have done the usual HPI checks to clear the car for finance and insurance/accident history, etc. You can contact BMW for any history they have as well. They would have service/warranty records up to the time they last serviced.

You can't go wrong with Simpson's. Other than dealer stuff it's the only place my car goes for work.

Yep, HPI clear, no finance, 4 previous owners, no accident history etc etc.

In March 2009 it had done 41k so in it's done 66,000 in the last 2 years. The guy couldn't have stopped for a piss!

Going to phone BMW later and do the other checks, factory spec etc etc..

So, do we know the last 4 owners?!? :smokin:

I've heard of a 130K + miles CSL a year ago on one of the other forums still going strong
The car you're looking at @ Simpsons must be bit of a gem to have done 33K miles per year, in the last two years  Ignore the mileage and Buy on condition, and since Simpsons have gone over it like they have and given it a clean bill of health + carried out an Inspection 2 service (the expensive one) I'd snapp it up before someone else does especially if it's sub £20 000  For all you know it might have had most of the common CSL parts replaced under BMW warranty in the past, at least once  Again BMW UK might help you with that, if not pop into a friendly BMW main dealer, give them the chassis number of the said car and you might be nicely surprised to get a print out of few A4 pages of Warranty work.

Why would you use a CSL as a long distance commuter hack? :bigcry:

A standard M3 or a nice 335d would be a comfier/cheaper option surely - albeit without the induction noise!

Life is too short to worry about mileage, Iv had cars that Iv kept locked away and just polished for fear of racking up the miles then when they where sold I just thought what was the point?
Look after it, drive it, enjoy it fook the miles you only live once!!
