    Flaps!

    Need a bit of help.

Had problem with my car, took it to my local indie, plugged it in and came back with flap actuator faulty. I was surprised because I could hear the flap working normally, the old flap actuator was in the car so I thought I’d test it to alleviate my suspicions. Used an ohm meter across the terminal, the reading was 56-60 ohms, passed 12 volts and the motor turned normally. mmm.

Next I thought I’d test the new flap installed on the car by the indie, ohm meter showed a lower reading of 4-5 ohms, so I figured it was faulty after all due to the lower reading. I didn’t bother passing any voltage through it and reinstalled.

Now the fucking thing doesn’t work at all, the plug is on right and I’ve cleared the fault code and disconnected the battery for an hour to reset every thing. It just comes back up as faulty actuator again.

How can it be faulty, I only disconnect and reconnect it?

I had mine kick up some faults every now and then so just removed it.

If the cars under warranty have it repaired then remove the flap. If the theory is correct then there will be nothing to stick causing the fault to show up on the computer.

It's going in next week, its a bit strange why it doesn't work :bigcry:

I quite like having the option to drive without the flap opening at lower RPM's.

It's much more civcilised don't you

      Tally ho!

Have you erased the fault codes?

No, I put a tape marker on the new one when I extracted it.
