During a very good clean (Refuse to say detail, sorry) a couple of weeks ago I found a wee chip out the paint and consequently the metal had started to rust. Right at the bottom, front corner of the wing behind the front wheel. It's obviously a stone chip or tonnes of stone chips so can't see BMW standing over it but at £250 I think will be worth getting painted asap.

How did you get on with it Paul? I've got a wee blister underneath a piece of trim that I keep meaning to get checked out but with all the issues I've had with the E90, the CSL took a back seat this summer.

Mine is fine at the moment. Only thing I noticed last year was slight stone chipping to the rear rolled arch, on the very edge. Cleaned, protected and touched in and no sign of further damage but keeping an eye on it.

iirc it is not a paint warranty but a bodywork warranty so rust will be fixed if it is part of the structural body of the car, not trim on top of the body.

              Good Baz,
BMW will cover the two rear 1/4's. They will blend into both doors as well.
Im paying for a new O/S wing and the painting of it, the bumper and the bonnet.
Got a call from them last week to say that they had also spotted some signs of corrosion around the door latches so the door checks are getting done as well.
Body shop have said that they are just going to paint everything except the bootlid, rear bumper and roof all for the quoted price :-D

              Thats correct Shim,
I asked to have the mirror bases done but they were classed as "trim".

I was told the A pillar paintwork is trim as well.

Any rust on a fold in the panel they ought to be made to cover as IF its not due to stone chip, then its due to rust arising due to internal stress in the panel at the fold line, caused during the stamping of the panel from sheet. The molecules get all stressed and pulled and buggered up in all directions, making corrosion more likely at that spot. ... All my own words too ! not googled that fooker !
