Thanks for the member/owners only section - great idea about vetting who gets access.
A request has been made to mobile tradition from BMW NZ right now to put the NLA CSL parts back into production for legitimate owners only.
To be honest I am at two minds about this whole situation. In one sense the situation would have never arisen had BMW policed how CSL parts were sold in the first place - on the other hand, we almost need the non CSL owners to keep wanting these parts for them to be put back into production purely on a volume argument.
I am thinking about drafting a letter to be sent via my source here to BMW AG directly. Basically a letter from all of us (together with ownership name, chassis number and email contact _ obviously I would keep confidential) about our disappointment with how bespoke CSL parts are now NLA and how this could mean the demise of a much loved car by a great community. I think the more pressure we put on BMW the more likely we'll get a response from them. I've even thought about perhaps going to a contributor I know on speedhunters and see if he might be able to sneak in a story about it haha!!
Feedback gents?

I think the fact that a larger proportion of CSL have and maintain bmw warranty should be mentioned, which prob is unusual for a 10 yo car, and the fact yhat even under warranty ae will be unable to be provided with original parts
is detrimetal to the future heritage of the car.
Im guessinh manufacturers rely on a new narket springing up to cater
for these requirements (like Alex and his Alvis's). - new market Alex!

Some parts they don't mind as it is ordered in large batches, so BMW would rather see parts moved and money earned than to have it sit in a warehouse - most of these parts are parts that are third party produced where they still hold the tooling - and mostly ones where demand is high due - i.e. body panels and bumpers.Originally posted by portlandgrey View PostCA Auto buying up bootlids:
Bminiparts also supplying CSL parts no problem:
Looks as though BMW are not overly bothered who they sell to, owners or not.
In a sense it is good for us owners as it means these parts continuously gets reproduced.
The problem comes with high costs reproduction parts where the tooling have now been stored away and probably won't come out soon.
Some parts are getting harder to get hold of unless proof of VIN is supplied.
