    BHP @ wheels

Anyone have a rough idea what a std CSL should be putting out?

Obviously they will all be different but just looking for a guide

    Cheers,

RK04 - 310 bhp at wheels, 373 bhp at flywheel - max power at 7,800 rpm and the car was standard (still is). Tested by John Thorne on their dyno mid 2006.

DSC has to be bypassed to get to 7,800 rpm, explained here:

"Ask John at Thorney about it but i'm pretty sure he said you have to put it on the rolling road then turn the car off for a bit. Then its something like turn the car on press the sport button on then holf the DSC button for 10 secs. Sometimes it works and only on some cars but you usually get 3-4 runs before the ecu realises whats going on and stops all the fun. Peak power was at 7800"

The thread can be found here:

Well that's a great example of what they re NOT. at the wheels or anywhere else

Best bet is to speak to one of the guys who runs an OeM s54 in a race series like CSCC or tdt as they will have Independant info and what the car is listed as at the hubs or wheel depending on year tested.

My guess is NONE re more than 295bhp

Well, I am just re-iterating John Thorne verbatim. I guess we need Thorney's to enter the conversation to explain the results. You know them to have a duff dyno Shimster?

              Cheers guys.
I have estimated around the high 200's.
Just need an estimate at the moment anyway so that will do. 280 -300

              Cheers,

I take anything John Thorne takes with a healthy pinch of salt...

my lawyers are too expensive for me to enter into this discussion

If you look at TDT they have to be under 200bhp/tonne measured at hub. includes driver.

so unless it was under 300bhp at wheels it just wouldnt be competative

Reading what he says in the PH thread, he agrees with Shim's figures - i.e. that standard CSLs are 330-350 bhp at the flywheel which would put them sub 300 at the wheels. Why would he "lie" about this one? It's not hearsay by the way, it's Thorne himself on the thread.

I would assume he didn't just say it, it was derived from the dyno's print out - are you saying, Glen and Shim, that he messed with his dyno's calibration for this one car? What on earth for????

We would never say such a thing........

Dynos never lie and nobody makes them tell results they want to sell products and services,

Is that what Thorney Motorsport do? I don't know them, never dealt with them - are you saying they are rogues? Do they have a bad reputation?

As far as I can tell, Thorney did nothing to the car (apart from possibly fit the Turner RTAB limit kit).

It's always good to have a healthy dose of skeptism, for whatever reason :-D

Thorney used to lay on BBQ's in the summer for customers old and new.....
great sausages as I recall. One year a very nice gent in his 997 gt3 rs was taking pax rides all day. That was the first encounter I had of the famous M3 CSL registration number, owned at the time by an SGCSL owner. £12 K for the privilege!! such a cool plate.

Our standard M3 with Geoff steel airbox and our exhaust system made 321bhp atw.

Mapped by Wayne at chip wizards. I'll ask him what they make standard atw

                              OK so an update,
Had the car on the dyno yesterday for my power run and weigh in.
                              Standard car 284bhp atw.
All carpets, 1/4 tank of fuel and me comes in @ 1534kg (which was quite heavy I thought)
