    The Time is Nigh...

So after 5 years of ownership, I'm starting to think the time is right for Cecil and I to part company. (Not that it will ever be right of course). He now lives in a warm garage in Dorset after I decided at the end of last year that the mean streets of London were no place for him.

Sadly what that means is that we've not been able to escape for a quick jaunt every now and again and that our rendez-vous are instead limited to a couple of times a year. I'd be planning more weekends away for us, to see the sights of such places as Donnigton, Cadwell, Brands and to relive our adventures at Spa and Nurburg, but alas, life has got in the way.

With prices where they are, it's getting hard to justify just keeping him the garage, I could really use some of the money for other ventures right now. Whilst I think CSL values will continue to rise, I'm not sure how long it's going to take them to go up significantly.

    So,
    Silver Grey
    54,000 miles
    54 plate
Full BMW history & warranty in place

    Lightweight Magnesium wheels
    Rear parking sensors
    Xenons
    A/C

    Adjustable top mounts
Full Alcon set up - front discs and pads changed less than 2,000 miles ago
Supersprint back box and race cats

Exterior is in great condition after having the bumpers resprayed at the end of last year.

I also have 4 spare wheels and 8 Cup Tyres (4 front, 4 rear) as well as the PS2's that are on the car at the moment. I suspect I will sell the Cups and Wheels separately.

So, what's sensible to ask for the car?

Assuming full service history (no service I or II due), the dreaded cracking sorted, etc I would try £36500

Either don't let life get in the way or sell it to me for £28K

Johnny return the car back to oem as far as you can and then advertise for 36,500. Backbox and cats will fetch 2K given a fair wind.
        Better still keep 'er!!!!!

I know i'll be sorry boys, but it's a lotta cash to have tied up in something that's not getting the use it deserves. Still looking at other ideas, but sale seems the most sensible option.

I'm also becoming more conscious that it's becoming collectable and therefore I don't want to be doing 8,000 miles a year in it. (obviously I'd love to do 8,000 miles a year in it!). Which makes it a pretty hefty investment at the moment.

On the cracking Trawler, what's the best remedy for this? When it went in before, BMW confirmed that it was fine. What's the preventative measure and who's best placed to do it?

I've had the foam/resin injection done at a BMW main dealer after mine was checked and cleared. I think it was around £350.

There was a post in the main section earlier with someone looking for one, might be worth sending them a message or replying in the thread.

Sorry, but I have no idea. I think NZ in the technical section has posted something on this topic. Just got in so will try & find it tomorrow it might be a good idea to have a written report from someone like Giraffe to say there is no cracking to keep a potential buyer happy.

My intention is to sell the car in A1 condition (which it's pretty much in). I don't really want to sell, so I won't move much on price, so I'm not going to give someone an opportunity to negotiate on it!

                  It seems the subframe options are;

                  1) resin solution via BMW at around £350
                  2) resin and plate solution via Mprove / Simpsons at about £1,000

It was checked when it went in for service an there were no cracks. It's 54 plate so does that mean it has the 12 year warranty? In which case option 1 above could be done under goodwill IF cracks were found?

                        A crash? Who's crashing?

I was going to try and make the market and list it at £55k. If it sells it sells, if not, ah well...

(Not sure that'll get me any closer to a flat purchase though). :hahaha::hahaha:
