:smt045 I'd say most of them :whistle:Originally posted by Chappers View PostLooks like a few of those 16,000 miles were quite hard, doesn't it? Can't say it looks in much better condition than mine does with 107,000 more.
So much for that " low mileage CSLs better than any other " BS . :blalalala:
That thing looks like it's had a right old kicking from most of its 5 previous owners :bigcry: Poor Cecil :smt056

Obviously I am in the market for a CSL and I am not sure that we can make these assumptions.Originally posted by Chappers View PostLooks like a few of those 16,000 miles were quite hard, doesn't it? Can't say it looks in much better condition than mine does with 107,000 more.
If the steering wheel is badly steam cleaned then it could account for this appearance. I had one of theses steering wheels on my E30 and it looked awful after a month.
What we need to know before we assume that the car has had a hard life is:
Has the floor been replaced: Binary: yes "probably tracked in view of low mileage" / no "represents it's low mileage"
Has the car been painted (eg track gravel rash)
Any signs of wing corrosion: daily use/road salt
If the car has not been painted, the floor is original and is on the original tyres (I suspect there will be receipts for tyre changes) then it might be that it has had one owner with sweaty hands

You're right. To be fair, 16,000 miles is still over half way round the world, even if it's done over 13 years. My motorbike definitely didn't look brand new at 16,000 miles. It looked well used, so if it any of the 5 previous owners weren't the Star Wars Collectibles mint-in-original-packaging type then it's inevitably going to pick up a few scratches here and there.Originally posted by SSS View PostObviously I am in the market for a CSL and I am not sure that we can make these assumptions.
Also a lot of/probably nearly all of the high mileage cars have had crap-loads of stuff replaced over their life times, where as this might be 16,000 miles of factory original parts. Whether or not that matters to you is personal preferences. It obviously matters to someone otherwise they wouldn't be worth more.
A 13 year old car that just needs the steering wheels replaced and is otherwise completely original is actually pretty good, isn't it?

Gravel rash can come from our roads look at the state of them, at least the tracks are in very good condition, so not much chance of the rash unless you go into the kitty litter :whistle:Originally posted by SSS View PostObviously I am in the market for a CSL and I am not sure that we can make these assumptions.

Exactly right Craig :smokin: Track surfaces are pristine by comparison to our filthy UK roads :banghead: especially this time the year.Originally posted by CraigMillwardCroft View PostGravel rash can come from our roads look at the state of them, at least the tracks are in very good condition, so not much chance of the rash unless you go into the kitty litter

Nothing to do with sweaty hands to get it looking like that... worn & ruffledOriginally posted by SSS View PostIf the steering wheel is badly steam cleaned then it could account for this appearance. I had one of theses steering wheels on my E30 and it looked awful after a month.
... it might be that it has had one owner with sweaty hands
However racing gloves will make it look like that after a few TDs
Here's a pic of my steering wheel that's done 50K ish miles

csl @ ML
Steering wheel is navel lint TBH and reflects 1% of sale price if you buy from the stealers
Rear diffuser is all cf unpainted?
ML would rectify this as a matter of car prep prior to the new owner collecting.
70K for 17,000 miles seems OK given the current lunacy with csl prices.
It is such a shame that virtually all CSL's sold in 2016 and beyond will never be "driven"

Ok but what if we assume that all 5-7 owner CSLs have been on track.
Then the only diagnostic factor will be total amount of miles and if painted and if boot floor done
If miles low, boot floor is virgin, no paint work then these are distinguishing factors
Not sure if I am correct with this but that's how I think

At £70K large asking price from a leading BMW Indy that CSL needs to have all these little things resolved properly using genuine BMW parts to a very high standard prior to the Ad going live, as otherwise it makes the seller (ML) look a bit amateurish, which is very unlike them.Originally posted by cslsuperfan View PostSteering wheel is navel lint TBH and reflects 1% of sale price if you buy from the stealers

One can assume all he or she likes. Excellent condition & impeccable Service History is all that really matters when someone genuinely wants a great CSL to use as BMW "M" Gods intended. Low mileage does NOT guarantee either and only deludes potential buyers into false sense of security.Originally posted by SSS View PostOk but what if we assume that all 5-7 owner CSLs have been on track.

BTW... original paint ?!?! especially the shitty waterbased crap that chips easier than porcelain, on a 14 year old BMW :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: Good luck with that :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:
