They didn't last long! I thought they were all Kiwi's in NZ, not Magpies? :hahaha:

LOL ... Kiwis are Magpies in disguise :-D :blalalala:

Can these actually be sanded back and refurbed?

Same question? Mine weren't that bad but put new ones in and binned the old ones. If I'd know I could have got 50 quid for them I'd have popped them up for sale! :moan:

Well done on your sale Dave

[Neil M]

Yes they can be refurbed, however if you re-lacquer the tendency is for them to turn milkie again, my thinking was to use 'Venture Shield' or similar, to wrap then

[JBird]

I wonder if just polishing them would be better, after all, it's the laquer that is the problem in the first place. Suppose they would then scratch easily, so venture sheild would be a good idea.

I'll be getting my car covered in venture shield soon, so may as well rub them back and see how they turn out and get them done at the same time - nothing to loose, was going to buy new ones anyway!

The corrosion is usually from under the lacquer not from the top. Usually it's a separation from the clear coat and the aluminium underneath - sometimes it is the aluminium itself. I would say they are quite tricky to refurbish actually - at least not back to 100% original.
