Not really much to update as busy with house stuff at the minute but here is the current status.

Bit the bullet and just ordered up a new OEM Oil Cooler.
Got that all fitted up and have to say it does look good with all new rads / coolers etc in there. No flies, grime etc :bigcry:

Then turned my attention to the underside plastics for the tank. These were covered in what I can only assume was some kind of hardened waxoil. It required a scraper to come off and was no more waxy than a concrete slab.

All cleaned up well though and looking decent.

Next step is to get some fluids back in and get it fired up then off to the paint shop to get the bodywork done.

            Nearly there :smokin:

                      Cheers folks Its nearly there.

Last couple of weeks has seen it fired up and moved off the ramp awaiting it's slot in the paint shop.

Filled the fluids, rebuilt the engine bay back up, stuck in a gallon of fuel and turned the key.

Prepped it for the body shop and stuck the wheels back on so I could free up the ramp for the next project.

Now this has been a huge issue of mine, the steering wheel.... Its totally original and 17yrs old. Id like to keep it original if I can.
I decided I did not want it re covered if I could help it as I have seen some good and some horrendous ones. I also think they look a little fatter once done but that might just be the material.

I removed that last weekend and set to work with hot soapy water and a sponge. It was minging :vom: COVID-19 eat your heart out!!!

                      So started with this

                      Currently have this

I'll continue to work away on it and hopefully get it to a stage where I am happy but if all else fails then Royal can be a fall back.

Thats it really now until the paint work is done, booked in mid April :banghead:

End of April Craig. Paint and MOT and its good to go.
Needs an Insp2 but will stick some miles on it with the rebuild bottom end 1st then get it booked in.

Looking good. , I’m still on original steering wheel. All cleaned up ok. But then they flatten again after a short time , but great while it lasts till next time :smokin:

Yeah if it becomes a pain in the ass then I will just get it re covered but for the moment all I want to do is get the thing out there now and drive it.
I like the originality factor but also need to remind myself it has AP's and a rear silencer :hahaha:

Man that steering was horrible. I have one in the exact same shape sitting in storage and afraid to wash it lol. Looking forward to updates on your refresh build.
