New Shell Nitro + V Power and running lean.

Hello guys,

Question for the technical minds here :smokin:

As anyone had a problem with running lean due to the effect of the new added chemicals on the Nitro plus. (Especially race cars)

Apparently it affects the Lambda sensors, causing the car to run lean ?!

Having my mapping checked before Spa, hope i don't have to get rid of the V Power. Full tank at moment.

I've not heard this before, bit of a major cock up by shell if its true?


optimax has cleaners in, nitro has 25% more in - would this really affect the lambda's

Just mentioned race engines as mine is mapped for 99 Octanes and it's so fine tuning.

But again as you said could trigger any lambda sensors. Road cars too i presume .

Few of Terry Buttlers race cars are running lean since switching to V Power Nitro +

I will have mine checked a week on Monday. Will let you know.

Ok,

The words that Terry said was, "bring your car in for me to look at your mapping as some of my cars are running lean since using the new V Power" some problem to do with lambda sensors and new additives" .

It's chinese to me, so you must know better , why would his cars be running lean on new V Power not sure :smt102.

The lambda values were indeed lean, but that suggests the sensors are working if the engine is indeed running lean?

Can't comment any further really, the data was missing some crucial things needed to get a proper picture of what was happening. Not going to do any harm to get it back for a check over anyway.

Could have got the wrong end of the stick regarding Lambda , did hear the word lambda somewhere. Maybe bad reception, could have been talking about his hollidays where he danced to Lambada

Can this new additives make a car run lean you think? Or was it coincidence?

Likely coincidence

Maybe they are wanting to reign their cars in slightly as a precaution. Might have nothing to with fuel.

I've only seem incomplete data from one car matey so not in a position to say on way or the other, will make a point of noting fuel used over the next few weeks when doing support and looking at Lambda values compared with previous sessions to see if there is a pattern.

Maybe because the fuel is Better its not retarding ignition and this is causing them to run to full potential of the map which is taking fuelling out at higher rpm.

Although running race fuel as an example on a non race fuel map should be safer?

I ran Nitro at Donny and so did Oneill and no noticeable issues
