Another newbie- advice on purchasing '97 M3

This is for a buddy of mine. Car is a '97 4 door auto, VIN #WBSCD0323VEE11333. Price is $17K, but engine has recent rebuild due to head gasket failure. Any tips/advice greatly appreciated.

I think you'd be better off getting a 95 stick. They are about 17K w/ good mileage.
