    Climate control/Final Stage Resitor

Ok a few weeks ago my '99 started showing the classic climate control problem of the fan working erratically and then quiting altogether. So I research it and find the .47uf Capacitor fix, I just completed that and checked the board for loose solder joints as well, and that did not fix it. So back to the net and low and behold theres a final stage blower motor resistor thats prone to fail as well. After finding out they cost around $100 bucks I started to wonder, is there a way to do a diagnostic check on this resistor to determine if it has failed. Also is there one for the climate control itself? I hate to just throw expensive parts at it until it works again. The p/n for the resistor is 64.11-8 376 174, I seem to remeber reading about a superseded p/n last night but cant find the thread again. Does anyone know if this is the lateset p/n?

Not sure about the part number, but if your Control unit on the dash is working fine and the only problem is the fan going in and out and working on some speeds but not others, then it is most likely the final stage resistor that you are talking about. It is located under the drivers side of the dash towards the center.
