    Received my Cosmos CAI: Review

I now know what is meant when some folks say "I like the sound of the engine"

I received this CAI on Friday and did about a 30 minute install without removing obstructions, re-doing the horn, clamping her down (see: not doing it right) and was very impressed with the upgrade. I didn't really notice any thing at the low end, however, @ WOT 4-6.5K it sounded absolutely fanstastic and noticed a very good improvement in acceleration. I wanted to do more, but...I decided to have some fun in College Park MD for the upcoming football game (Go GT Baby!!!)

Since, I'm a worthless gov't worker, I had the day off for Columbus Day...so me and my private technician (house mate, best friend, I'm and idiot when it comes to cars, tools etc...) had some time to do it right. We moved an obstruction/clamp that seemed to serve no purpose, put a 3"X2" hole in the brake duct, reformed and mounted the clamp to hold it firmly and went to a ride!!! All of the above things made a very good difference, and improved sound and acceleration was noted from about 3K and up and WOT was not necessary. At this point, I wanted to put up some .mpegs, however, I only have a modest Digi camera and it's just not worth putting up. My boy and I, when trying to differentiate the difference in two .mpegs, could not. We just giggled at each other and said "at least we know the f'in difference!!! It sounds like a monster" So for that I apologize.

My only question is, when I was really lettin' her loose, I noticed that the ASC would come on when I was going straight...and I don't think it has anything to do with hole in the brake duct..or could it be?

This is a very good intake, it's just a bit heavy...I would recommend purchasing one for $134. Let me know if you'd like to post any pics of the install.

I would like pics of the install. Where did you get it from?

I received it from cosmosm3 {jerry} on bf.com, pm him, I got mine in 2 days..

Ok from the limited pictures I took, here you go:

Everything out: Airbox (obviously), both horns, and that "clamp out" used to be a raised plain that the filter was rubbing on (it was cut then buffed smooth)

Top view: right under where you see the clamp, there's a rubber stopper, take that out, bend and cut the clamp to fit (I think, it was cut to the first or second big hole prior to the clamp park...the clamp comes w/ alternating big hole/small hole config...the small hole are just a tad small to fit the bolt. The bolt takes a 6mm nut) then bent into an 'L' to come stright up, the clamp was designed to clamp from the side.

Forwad view: I only remounted one horn, because I didn't have any extra wire laying around. Not sure when I'm going to get around to it.

      Hope this helps!!!

The ASC coming on, means you have lost traction when its come on.

I have the same intake and love the growl at high revs, many ask me if I have a after market exhaust.. No draw backs or problems for $134.00 and is 3.5" intake like Dinan and almost identical except for carbon fiber (Dinan) versus heat treated downpipe snorkel.
