    Issues with CD Changer, etc...

For some time now I have been experiencing some audio issues when playing CDs via the stock changer. I took it to the dealer and told them how sometimes audio drops out of the left channel, other times there is static crackling that comes through. They could not see nor hear any issues - imagine that. But when I picked up the car it immediately started to act up again. I went home and removed the changer, cleaned it - still same issues.

Finally I decided that the internal electronics of the changer were done (7 years old...). I bought a new Alpine unit that also plays MP3 encoded CDs - sweet! In order to connect this unit, however, I was supplied with a "Blitz Safe, Advanced Technologies" interface device. This permits direct connection to the factory wiring and full control from the stock head unit. While in the garage and after the install, I powered the unit up and tried it out. Awesome sonic playback! But wait, during a short drive, I immediately experienced the same left side channel drop out, plus some alternator whine.

So, at this point I believe the problem may rest in the stock head unit or the wiring from the head unit to the changer. When playing the radio or tapes there are no issues. As for the alternator whine, the distributor is sending me a replacement interface unit. Maybe that will solve that. But the channel dropout from the left side and some crackling leads me to believe it could be a wiring issue.

Has anyone else had these types of issues? And if so, how did you correct them?

I did the same. Never sounded better now, i have an alpine 7894, it matches the interior perfectly.

here ya go..... on some of the pics you can turn the display off.. it reappears when u touch any knob or button, however turns off again until you want it to stay permanently on.

I have a chanel drop out as well. And I have a pause, which is reallly annoying. Im gunna spend a little $$$ fixing it. Ideally I wanna keep the head unit, as aftermarket ones look abit tacky in a nice intergrated dash.
