    Adjusting headlight beam

    98 M3 Sedan w/OEM headlights.

How do you adjust the headlight direction? At night, my low beams are too low and narrow. I need to raise it so it shines farther and spreads out more.

When looking from above the headlight unit, I see two plastic hex adjustment screws that spin a plastic wheel. Are these the adjustment screws I need to use?

    Thanks in advance.

Don't know exactly where you're looking, but that sounds like you got it.

Yes, those are the adustment knobs. In the dark park the car facing a building or something. Pop the hood and start adjusting the knobs. If you watch the beam you will see it either move up and down or left or right. You should be able to figure out what to do from there. ***Be careful when turning those knobs; they aren't too durable...

The knobs closer to the high beams are for vertical adjustment. The knobs towards the outside of the lights are for horizontal adjustment (this is for the euro lights and not positive it is for the U.S.).

The OEM lights are terrible and good luck adjusting them.

Correct. The US lamps only have vertical adjustment. You can use a hex key to adjust them, a phillips head screwdriver to adjust them, or a 10mm socket to. I found that the 10mm socket works the best.
