    Cooling Fan LH Threaded Nut

Whats the move to get the 32mm Left handed threat nut off to get the cooling fan off the spindle? Bentley says there's a special tool but I want to know if there's another method. Does this nut come off easily? My T-Stat broke and im cold!!

Put a 32mm wrench on it and give it a few good smacks to the right.

You may have to brace the pulley, but thats usually when you're putting it on.

Any loctite required or just a few grunts ?

How about replacing the t-stat housing w/ a metal one? Do I need to use a special sealer? For the water pump as well? Or are the gaskets sufficient?

      Thanks!

You have to brace the pulley with the special tool that slips over 2 of the 4 bolts. You can use a prybar too with the same results. A couple wacks to loosen it and it just spins off. When you put it back on you don't even have to tighten it up. It is self tightening once you the engine. No loctite needed, that's why the threads are backwards.

I used a bit of gasket sealer on the tstat housing. Just make sure you also have the orange rubber one in place as well. I don't remember using any on the waterpump though.

What i've also done is backed out two of the bolts that secure the pulley and use a long screwdriver to prevent it from moving.

the 32mm wrench can be had at a bicycle store.
