new '97 Estoril - good price?

Hey guys first post - hope this is the right forum. Looking for your opinion about this '97 Estoril Blue M3 coupe I found with dove Vaders. Title has a previous salvage, bought at an auction, and checks out to be very nice. Has 72k miles. I'm in Va, so does $16,500 sound reasonable?

G'Day and Welcome to the Forum, fantastic to have you onboard too.

Thanks for the pics of the car your looking at. From the pics it looks like its in great condition. Unsure of the price conversion as Im in Australia but it certainly looks like a tidy and a fine example of an E36M. Love the colour too.

    All the best with it.

    Adam.

From those pics the car looks excellent. I would run the car's specs through www.kbb.com and find out what they currently value the car at. From what you see at KBB, you should go by the private party resale value, and knock that down a bit.

I'm wondering if these cars really go by the blue book value? Especially since this particular one has the popular exterior/interior combination, seems like paying one or two grand over book would be normal? KBB on this is 14,500, where as he's asking 16,500.

Doesn't KBB take under account that it's a special color option?

Also, the car was bought at an auction, so who knows what it could have been through. There are many variables with this particular vehicle.

Previous salvage for $16,500? Walk away... no, run away.

i think if you can work the price down, its not such a bad deal. the car looks like its in prestine condition visually, so the only question is how does it drive? if it drives like a car w/o a wrecked title, then jump on it. its rare that ur gonna find a 7/8 year old that looks that good. i would get it checked out by a certified mechanic of YOUR choice and see what he says. GL with the m3, im sure your gonna love it.

What if I could get this car for $13400? That would be a pretty good deal, eh? The only thing is I really wanted an 98-99 M3 convertable. However since this is a good deal, I may be willing to sacrifice the ragtop.

One, I am going to move this to the E36 secton for you.

Two, I would never in my right mind buy a salvaged title car. That scars it for life. You may have a hard time getting insuance coverage on a car thats been branded 'salvaged'.

Also, something major happened to that car to earn it a salvaged title; flood, major wreck, fire... etc.

My honest opinion, pass this one up and find another.
