Looks like a need 2 new tires

I was driving to dinner on Thursday night and it was very very foggy out. It was about 5:30 so traffic on 128N by the Lowell St exit (Peabody) was moving slowly, perhaps 40 mph. All of a sudden I hear, and feel, two large thuds. I guess I hit a giant pothole with both tires on the driver's side of my car. The wheel was pulling hard to the left so I realized I had a flat and pulled over to the side of the road. Turns out that both tires need to be replaced. So between the tires(only 3 months old!), install, and loaner charge I am out about $400. Kinda sucks! Oh yeah, while I was waiting on the side of the road for a tow another guy in an A6 hit the same pothole and needed a new tire.

Edit: On the plus side I am enjoying my 325xi loaner, and it will come in real handy tonight when it snows.

Report the pothole to your department of transportation I think it is. After a pothole is reported they have something like 6 months to fix it. Chances are, someone may have reported that pothole already sometime ago. If it's been longer than 6 months, the state has to pay for the repairs. I'm not sure if it's 6 months or not, but it's somewhere around there.

I live in KC, so on the missouri side of town we have this problem a lot (the Kansas side keeps up the roads much better). I also blew a tire and bent a rim on a pothole, and was reimbursed by the state. You should definitely make them pay for the tires. It was a mild PITA as I recall, but definitely worth $400. Good luck.
