hard to get into gear,.. help

noticing some problems trying to get into gear on a 5spd,(first and second gear especially from a stop. its fine to get into gears while im moving).. I just had my rear main seal go and leaked on my clutch. so i ended up getting a new clutch and flywheel. The shop kept trying to blead the clutch and kept finding some air in it. they decided that is was the clutch master cylinder going bad, they also said that once the clutch plate wears down a little bit that it may be easier to get into gear and it seems as though that is happening. is there any other possibilities or if anyone has done the master cylinder themselevs, is it a diy project????

Do you have a clutch stop? It may need to be adjusted down further into the floor to allow the pedal to travel a little further.

Could be bad syncros. 98's were known to have funky trannys. More along the lines of the 5th gear issue though.

I have a new tranny but it is still hard to get into first while stopped. I think that is fairly normal. Does it grind when you try to shift gears or is is just resistant?

no grinding,.. just resistance, this isnt normal,... the mechanic took the tranny out 3 times because he thought it was something he did,.. measured evereything in the drive line to make sure it was right,..... if you try to push it,.. the car tries to move foreward a little bit and i can hear a soft clunk in what sounds like the rear end of the tranny,... just like if the clutch wasnt pushed in enough,.. i guess thats why they think its the master cylinder,.. there is air in the line,.. so it compresses, and isnt actually fully disengaging the clutch.

sorry if that didnt make much sense,...
