light ticking on start up???

sounds like lifters but i have only heard this on my awd talon, but i think they do it new.

is this a problem or a just common on a 100k 10 yr old car.

btw it goes away in a few min.

its common.. just put a bit more oil in her.. should help minimize the lifter ticking.. if it goes away after warmup.. its probably that the oil is sinking to the bottom and then needs to recirculate to coat them again.. bu i wouldn't worry about anything.. mine does it too.. no biggie..

My M, like many others, consumes some oil. I remember the last time I let the oil level go low, and I was startled to hear the light clacking noise when I pulled up next to a drive up window. Adding oil to the correct level immediately eliminated the noise.

just what i thought.

what about the valve retainers, what noise do they make? i guess i'll just search.
