I have no "NO TRACTION CONTROL"

    Hey guys,

figured while I'm on here right now I might as well ask. The light no longer comes on when i press the button to disengage ASC+T. I pressed it once and tried to do some fast getaways off the line but after redlining first and shifting into second the system would interfere and cut throttle momentarily so it's obviously not just the light...it's not disengaging period . I assume someone else has experienced similar symptoms. Is it just a temporary malfunction. I would really hate to take it to a mechanic and dread the BMW dealership as of prices and the service guys tend to be a bunch of nitwit tighta**es.

    Thanks for the help

    Do this: Buy these: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...81&hg=13&fg=15

    Part #3: 13541703588

    Part #5: 07129952131

Remove the ASC throttle assembly, replace old rubber boot with new one.

    Problem solved.

Should you NOT want to remove your ASC completely...

I would have any faults read out from the ASC control module, as this will help you pinpoint what is messed up.

well.. when i bought my car, i thought when you press the button that turns it on.. stupid me i guess. well i dove it home over 100 miles in a snow storm (5 inches or more on the ground when i made it home).. no trac control (i had turned it off) and i thought the car was fine... it had winter tires on it. i've always had powerful rwd cars, so i am used to them in the snow, but i thought the M was very well behaved.

The first thing I mentioned is the ASC delete. Doing that will permanently remove ASC from the car. The light on the dash will stay on though.

The second thing I mentioned is the fault code diagnosis. Only a dealer or someone with access to one of BMW's diagnostic computers can read the fault code from the ASC control module.

I took the ACS light out of the back of my dash. ASC delete is easy...there are good instructions on this sight...do a search. It is a great mod...our M is so balanced it does not need a computer to drive it.

Just bought my 99 m3 with ASC delete done. I agree it is a logical improvement. My z3 has the ASC and I don't think to turn it off often enough. Nice to just jump in and be running at full capacity every time.
