Question about dash light indicator

So I just bought my e36 used, but it didn't come with a manual for the car. Under the speedometer, there's a light on that looks like a circle in a pair of parenthesis~ something like... "( O )" can somebody tell me what this indicator light is for? Thanks.

brake warning light. either pads low, fluid low or broken wire going to pad sensors
