Ignition Stuck in Acc, won't move. Tumbler Replacement?

Last weekend I was messing around with the locking and security stuff with the M. Now this could be just a coincidence, but I locked the doors from the inside then tried to start it. The Key stopped at ACC and will no longer turn to start or back off, but the key will come out. And of course, the radio and car is on because of that.

I've done some searching and it sounds like people have had problems with this before. I've tried taking the keyhole out by sticking it into the small hole for the key, but no luck so far. T

he threads i've found are a couple years old, and just curious to if anyone has anything special to try other than to keep trying to remove it and check for how its jammed.

Could've happened at a worse time, but still had to have a friend tow me to my parking garage so I wouldn't get ticketed all week. Thank god for the tow hook on the front!

Am i looking at buying a whole new tumber and ignition piece? Any help would be great, hate having the M stranded

Also, lately it hasn't been starting right away, i'd have to try a few times before it was actually turn over. I originally thought it was just the clutch stop I put it being to far up, but could this be ignition switch too? Is there a clutch switch to activate the starter?

No problem, thanks for the words of hope, i'll need them ha. Sounds like it was a common issue to where the key would spin and not catch, but only found one other case of something like mine, and they didn't solve much.

I need a reason to leave the M alone, its too tempting to go drive instead of study...

From what I've read, you need to have the clutch depressed fully on late-model E36 cars, which prevents you from installing a clutch stop. Try removing the clutch stop?

            Am I way off, here?

The real issue is I cannot turn the key forwards or backwards in the ignition. It is locked in the first ACC position. The key will come out though.

The clutch engagement was just another issue i was curious about, because with the clutch stop i was able to adjust it to where it would still start, but 10 seconds later I'd try and no start....

Right now i just need to have the ignition turn

The Wheel moves freely right now, which enabled me to get pulled to my permanent parking space.

Remote start feature was just an idea, since you may need to insert key anyway.

An alternate solution would be to install a push button start kit (from the Z8) and that would bypass your tumbler issue. Just use keys to open car, and trunk, and push button to start car. My cousin did this install about 4years ago, sorry dont have any pics, but that's what he did.

Ah, i see what you're saying. But with a push button you'd still have to turn to ACC or Run for the electrical system, I can't do either. So that wouldn't much help me out.
