    80A vs 140A alternator

Mine's making some noise. I thought it was the VANOS, but not i'm pretty convinced it's my alternator. Is there any difference between these parts besides the rating? Are they interchangeable?

There are HID's in the car. Go for the 140 so any voltage/current spikes don't damage the replacement?

EDIT: BTW, the car has non-powered, manual seats. So i'm pretty sure it's loaded with the 80A

As far as I understood HIDs drew less power once it was started/on. Just required a lot of power to start up and get going

He wants to know whether having a 140A alternator will be safer for that initial power spike than having an 80A alternator.

And more importantly, if they're interchangeable. I'd just assume throw the 140 in my car. But i'm looking for confirmation that it'll drop right in.

There's a lot going on when you start the car up. That little vacuum cleaner blower is working, climate control booting up (vents moving, blower starting), ect. HID's just add to that, and it's a big spike. But yeah, they do draw less power than halogens after the first few seconds.

140A was for cars with heated seats I believe. Unless you have some crazy audio equipment - 80A

I have heated seats. So therefore, my alternator should be 140A too?

The study of ancient greek and roman civilization and literature in the original greek and latin, as well as in translation. It's basically like English/History/Language combined into one. It was one of the most popular majors back in the day. It's good training for law (my choice) and business as well.

Cool, I just got done with an ancient greek class - killed it but I am sure your stuff is more rigorous.

Law nice choice - my one sister is trying to go that route and is a slave to a firm in Tampa right now.
