Electric windows stop when going up :-(

this is quite annoying especially as my alarm has auto closure which closes any open windows when you lock up.

Even when closing using the switch inside the drivers window goes up about 100mm before stopping. What could this be?

AHA, me the thicko. so the entire metal scissor action device is the regulator? do you think oiling the joints will help?

You really think it needs replaced if its only stopping with the auto close? Couldn't there be a slight hesitation (whether it be one of the joints, the track, whatever) that causes it to stop from the pressure?

im assuming most people have tried penetrating oil, eg. WD40. or better before opting to replace such an expensive part. However i'll be one of those to try lubing it up before replacing.

                    Wow... that crap you see.

First try to reset the anti pinch function. Have an owners manual? Read it.

in a nutshell, turn key to on.

                    fully lower the windows

push and hold the up button, continue to hold for 5 secs after the window is up.

You need to do this anytime you disconnect the battery.

If that doesn't fix it, then it is most probably the motor itself. There is a Hall effect sensor in the motor and it gets disloged, it fails.

If the window itself it cockeyed, then it is the mechanical scissors might have failed.

Look at www.understeer.com, and think about buying a Bentley Manual.

                      What he said ^^^.

You other guys really need to stop telling people this is a regulator issue when it is not. This one post above should be made a sticky.

                            That's a simple window initialization.

If the problem is mechanical this won't fix it.

The regulators are known to go out on these things quite often.

Does your one touch work all the way up sometimes but other times seems to anti trap for no reason?

Mine would stop going up every inch or so whenever you either pressed the auto up or held it down for a while, had to press it like 20 times to roll the window up (every time). Doing the reset fixed it (incase anyone cares).
