I'm pretty sure that the thermostats were not installed in the obdII cars

Again wrong, spouting off incorrect information.Originally posted by badgthoyour text book may tell you that.
real life dicates that it's about 200 degrees in there... and water don't freeze.
Agree, my understanding it also has to do with humid climates and the temperatures DO NOT need to be below freezing. I know S50's have a thermostat for TB coolant, but S52's come direct from the head so I'd assume to thermostat. Either way I did the TB coolant line delete when I installed my M50 manifold. I used the "spare" port on the head as a spot for my temp sender. Here my thread with the install: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=845352Originally posted by RichardsperryThe earth is flat, I can see it. Doesn't matter that 1000 years of science and engineering have proven... Witches float, they are made of wood, I saw that once too...
It isn't idle that may cause a problem, it part throttle.
The throttle doesn't freeze closed, it may freeze cracked open.
I don't care what the temp of the engine bay is, almost nobody is sucking air from there... And it has no relation to what is going on at the throttle plate.
There is a thermostat that shuts off flow of coolant in warmer temps.
Wind chill only affects living warm blooded things, moron... Get a degree in mechanical engineering or at least read a thermodynamics, and a heat transfer and fluid flow book and then you may open your mouth again...

I've removed mine as well, because the chances of it happening are slight... however I think it's prudent to inform and correct so the OP can then make an informed decision. Freezing CAN happen and that's why it's there as OE, just because the engine can be "200°" doesn't change that fact.Originally posted by badgthonope.
how do i know? i've removed them on other cars.. and never had ice.

LMAO.. good one...
sorry if i was a little heated to the OP.. i just hate people that try to prove thier point when they havent even tried it...
I dont open my mouth or make a recomendation on something unless i have done it or i know how to do it... and will work...
i dont jump on all threads speaking BS.. just what i know.. and when i read a thread i always assume people who speak.. speak because they know whats up.. not just speaking bs.. its hard to get a correct answer if 30 people are saying 30 different things.. really theres only one or a few way of doing things correctly...

Phd? Piled higher and deeper? Or you know more and more about less and less?
Wind chill affects warm blooded living things, not inanimate objects. The temperature is what it is...
I'm not saying you will have a problem, just that it is a possibility. Just like overheating in summer rush hour traffic in Dubai is a possibility without an engine driven fan. That's why engineers do what they do within the design and accounting constraints.
I never said you shouldn't do it, just that there is nothing to be gained, and the possibility of something potentially bad happening. If you can prove that removing the coolant lines gain anything, perhaps I'll listen to you.
Why not remove all the airbags? They weigh a lot and I've never had one go off...
Eh,,, no thanks...
Engineers put turn signals in cars too, and not everybody uses them either.
