My shift knob is lose, Help please!

So I put the ZHP (I think thats what its called) shift knob on a few days ago and it looks great, the only problem is its a little lose and when I shift fast it comes off. Anyone have a similar problem with there knob and if so how did you fix it? I'm going to a auto x this weekend and it would really suck it the knob came off halfway through the course . Thanks in advance!

I will say what I always do: hard shift does not = fast shift. But you need to push the knob further down. Sounds obvious, but that should fix your problem. I guess check the bare lever to make sure there is nothing blocking the ZHP from sitting properly. Otherwise just push down as hard as you can, when not in gear.

Thanks but I pushed the knob as far down as it will go and even when I don't shift "hard" the knob is still lose. I was thinking of maybe using plumbers putty to secure the knob better but I'm not sure if that will hold. Thanks for the help though.

Oh okay sorry, wasn't sure if you had tried. A tab may be lose in the knob; double sided tape honestly works very well from what I've heard.

The little plastic nubs on mine snapped when I pulled it off to drop my transmission. The knob flew off on me 3 times on the street, and 4 times while on an AutoX course Ben gave me some "dum dum" (yeah plumbers' putty will basically work the same) to fix it with.

I haven't had an issue with it yet. It would always come off in 1-2 shifts, but it's been fine for months, and believe me i've been driving it. This is a good thing, because my car has a lighted knob with integrated shift boot, and those s**ts are EXPENSIVE!

Yeah. I wrapped the metal with a couple layers of electrical tape. Then the knob needed to be pushed on pretty hard. It held fine. I finally got tired of that and bought a new knob with a set screw from the side. That stayed on OK.
