keyless entry, alarm working, door locks not working...

As with many of you my car came with just a set of keys. However, the car did have the OEM alarm system in the car. Brain is under the glove box, siren in the hood, red LED on the dash, etc.

I ordered the factory 2-button remote and it came in this week. I programmed it following the guide on Pelican, which is the same thing everyone pushes around here. Upon programming the alarm indicated with a chirp that it had been programmed.

When I click the buttons they chirp and arm the alarm. Two chirps on one button, one chirp on the other. I think it was two chirps on the lock button and one chirp on the unlock, but I may have that backwards. If I hold down any button the alarm turns on, and pressing and holding the button again turns it off.

HOWEVER, my doors aren't locking. Hitting either button will not lock or unlock my doors. I know that my actuators are working because if you get in the car with the doors closed and hit the central locking button I can lock and unlock the doors.

So the issue seems to be that the alarm works, but doesn't control my door locks which essentially makes it useless. Today I disconnected the "brain" and pulled all the fuses. Hooked everything back up, and then programmed the remote fresh and it still does the same thing.

    Any ideas?

You failed to mention to m3f that your car is reconstructed.

it could have all kinds of possible electrical problems....

The car is not reconstructed. It had the passenger side rear suspension replaced. You're a big winner for holding a grudge against me and following me around the Internet after I made you look like a fool for your comments about VW's on bimmerforums.

Go enjoy some more humble pie, or take me up on my offer to PM me for my address so that you can come to my house yourself and inspect my car. Offer will stand until you either take it up or go away.

        o rly?

I made you look like a fool and you were laughed out of that forum. I can provide links if you would like.

How interesting that after YOU embarassed yourself on bfc you moved on to m3f. You mysteriously disappeared from bfc after I exposed you for who you are. Very strange that you decided to ask the question here instead.....lol, right

Your car IS reconstructed. That is why things are broke. This is what happens to people that buy an M3 for $5k

        good luck.

First of all it's ill advised to say someone was "embarrassed" and then misspell the word. I'd also encourage you to re-read the thread in question, because once it was clear to all that you were misinformed on the condition of my vehicle no one had anything to say.

I certainly didn't disappear from bimmerforums. I've probably posted there 25 times in the last two days. As is apparent with yourself, I frequent both forums, but post the majority of the time at BFC. I asked this question on both forums. Obviously, the more people you can reach with your question, the higher the likelihood you'll get an answer.

If my car is "reconstructed" because the passenger side rear suspension had to be replaced with OEM M parts, then by that logic 95% of the M3's on these forums have been "reconstructed" by way of having to do basic maintenance by replacing cooling systems, trannies, the rear end, etc.

There's no reason for you to be jealous that I can afford multiple cars and purchased a $5k M3 as a toy. I can't help it if you unwisely paid more for your car when the going rate on most of these vehicles is $5-$8k based on the fact that the majority have over 100k miles. If I do need me to show off to the girls at your highschool I'm happy to pick you up in the Benz.

And to the case in point, if any are curious. I fixed my issue. I was actually getting three beeps after reprogramming the second time. This obviously indicated a door, trunk, or hood sensor was not closing the circuit. Because both my window regulators work, and the programming function was working this immediately threw out the possibility that it was a fault on a door or the trunk. A quick test of holding the hood sensor down with the hood open, all doors and trunk shut resulted in the doors locks working when testing the keyless. I bent the metal piece on the sensor slightly so that it would better come in contact with the hood, shut the hood, tested the system and it works fine. Alarm and door locks working perfectly now on my "reconstructed" car.

I had a long winded response for this guy, but for fear of my uneducated (lol, if this clown only knew) ass making another dreadful spelling error I will not.

I am also currently saving to afford a lease on a base model E-class so I may hope to approach his alleged level of E-ballery in the future.

It is also good to know that I am a stupid person for overpaying for a non-destroyed example with a clean title. In a perfect world all M3's would be rebuilt, have plenty of DDM parts installed, and cost under $6k.

He knows the truth, so whatever he says is fine...some people always live in denial of reality. If anyone is interested as to who this guy really is, you should check out some of his quality work on bfc.

OP, glad you fixed your issue.

LOL who does this guy think he's fooling.

Dude you are such a liar. I doubt you even have a Mercedes, let alone paid cash for it.

People that brag about money and posessions on the internet are always insecure liars. Always. I don't give a rats ass about what your mom drives.

That's why you had to settle for a beat up $5k M3.

Stick to trolling around bfc. and leave the real E36 enthusiasts alone.
