Wheel Spacer Size - E36 w/ Stop Tech and DS1's

Like the title says, I am looking for anyone that has run the front Stop Tech (standard, 332mm) kit behind DS1's (OEM 95' rim) and what spacer they need to clear the calipers.

    Thanks in advance.

I had to stack a 15 mm & 8 mm spacer (23mm total) to make my Contours clear my 332mm StopTech kit up front--I can't speak for DSIs, though.

Of all the M3 wheels, DS1/DS2's have the least amount of clearance. Contours have the most and LTW's are 2nd; Contours have about 3mm more clearance than LTW's. It's been awhile since I fitted all four over my AP BBK but i'd say the DS1's have 5-6mm less to begin with and IIRC LTW's require a 20mm spacer to fit over Stoptechs.

I would HIGHLY suggest looking into a different set of wheels because you'll need a spacer so thick (at least 1"!) it will significantly change the fitment. You need no less than 4mm of clearance between the wheel and caliper, otherwise it will lathe itself under deflection.

Yes, definitely get new wheels. Running a spacer that thick (or two stacked spacers, for that matter) is far from ideal. I did it primarily as a bandaid fix because I did not realize until the brakes were installed that I had such a clearance issue, but I would never have tried to run stock wheels with the StopTechs had I known about the problem in advance.

Also DS1s weigh a metric ton (literally)

            Damn Joe, I'm jealous!!

You're definitely going to need to look into another set of wheels though... your car deserves them anyway!!

IIRC contours weigh more, but sound like they have better clearance.

You might want to looks at the UUC Wilwood 6 piston front calipers. They have about 6mm more clearance.

Holy crap, that is not going to work! Thanks for the input guys ... my problem is I have 3 sets of wheels right now ... TR-1 w/ R1's for track duty which fit w/ no issues ... DS1's which have my track "rain" tires on them (Direzzas) and a crappy set of E46 330 sport wheels w/ fragged Hoosier R6 that I use for playing @ autocross. Unfort, I own the Stoppie's, so no chance of going w/ another kit. Damn, this hobby just gets more expensive.

That does make it a bit harder. Perhaps you should try to find some style 5's The 20mm offset might actually work for you.

Nothing at all wrong with the Wilwood kit...

Sell the ones that don't fit and get some Dforces!

The offset of the wheel doesn't really help: it's the contour of the spokes and profile of the barrel that really matter.
