    Clutch pedal and bushing replacement

I'm finally getting around to replacing my clutch pedal and bushings. The pedal is cocked badly to the left and has a ton of slop in it. You can see what I mean in this photo (a bit hard to tell but you can see the angle of the pedal easily):

Are there any others parts that warrant replacement or that commonly break during installation? So far I'm only planning on buying one clutch pedal (35311158659, #1) and 2 clutch pedal bushings (35211158290, #4). Any suggestions/thoughts?

    Here's the diagram/part number list:

    Thanks all.

OE Cone shaped bushings are soft and will allow slop to return fairly soon.

I would consider using either the UUC Delrin bushings or get a Stygar modified OE pedal that has Delrin bushings pressed in that extend the width of the pedal hanger.

I hope I had something to do with this

All you need is the pedal. Get the delrin bushings from AKG, they're a better design than the OEM ones.

You did indeed. I've known that I needed to do it for a while but I didn't realize the pedal was so cheap.

I suppose I'll pick up the Delrin AKG bushings instead if they're better designed - as long as they don't have some kind of drawback like horrible noise or something.

OEM bushings are awful. Being the OEM ***** that I am, I used those first. I pulled everything apart again to replace with the UUC bushings. Anything is better than the OEM design.

Another vote for Delrin + OEM pedal. Grease them well before you put them in and it'll feel like you're driving a new car...

Can't go wrong with UUC or AKG bushings. Remove the driver's seat so you can lay down easily while doing the job. Rather then trying to fit yourself in a tight space and getting frustrated. just my

I have had my UUC bushings and new clutch pedal sitting for a month. Too lazy to do the job. But again my pedal is not bad at all right now.

Post some pictures of the install if you dont mind, Jeff.

I've got the AKG bushings as well. I had planned on changing them out today, but I'm too lazy. Maybe sometime.

I want to do this to. My clutch pedal is just like yours. I already have new set of oem bushings so I will just use them.

Is there a reason for getting a new pedal? I know its cheap but whats the point...

                      Any good DIY's?

The pedal deforms over time. Many people have told me that they replaced the bushings and it made no difference. The pedal needs to be replaced as well.

:sigh: Add this to the list. My clutch pedal is a good 10-15 degrees off

Fiveeightandten has a video on YouTube that does a pretty good job of showing what you need to do while you're in there, although it doesn't really walk you through the process, just tries to explain what to expect once you're in there. Looking at exploded diagrams and watching that video helped a lot.

And as others have said or at least hinted at, the pedal is a wear item. Over time the pivot point deforms and you get slop. It's an extra $30 and makes as much difference or more than the bushings.

Also, as far as removing the seat, you might not have to. I'm 6'1" / 185lbs and I was able to get under there and do what needed to be done without too much difficulty, although I did have sore ribs for a day or two from twisting over the door sill. And knowing what I know now, I could do it in 1/5th of the time, so if you happened to have a Zen moment your first time and get everything just right........
