Need help buying an E36 M3

This is a 1998 Boston Green E36 M3 with Dove gray interior. 3.2L engine OBD2. It only has 119k miles.(only been driven 9.9k miles per year!) The car is all original not modified. The interior is immaculate and has been very well taken care of, always garaged. No Accidents, this is a Pristine example of an unmolested M3(no cracking or tears in the leather, like many other similar cars). I have all the maintenance records from when it was purchased new in 1998 for $46k.

Some of the Maintenance that has been performed on the car within the last five thousand miles:

*New Bosch Platinum 4 Spark plugs at 105k miles

*New Clutch and flywheel at 99k miles

*New Fuel Filter at 108k miles

    *New water pump

    *New thermostat

    *New pulleys

    *New belts

    *New radiator hoses

    *Radiator Fluid Flush

*New Powerflex Rear Trailing arm bushings(RTABs)

*New Ground Control Rear Shock Tower Mounts

    *Hankook RS2 high performance tires

*New Axxis Ultimate High Perf. Brake pads

    *Brake Fluid Flush

*Blue dot high temp Brake Fluid

*Redline Differential fluid at 106k miles

*Redline Transmission fluid at 106k miles

*Oil change and filter using Mobil 1 full synthetic oil.

    Extra Factory options include;

    +6 Disc CD changer

    +BMW alarm

    +Keyless Entry

    +Lightweight forged wheels

    +Power seats

    +Power Sunroof

    +Full 18 button OBC

    +Black sport kidney grill

    +European clear corners

    +European clear side markers

    +European clear taillights

This is a second vehicle for me and I cannot afford to keep it any longer. It has a clean title and clean carfax, no accidents. You must really see this car to appreciate its condition. This is a RARE color to find,(not like the dozens of black or silver examples for sale) Many people are selling M3's similar to this except theirs are not in the great condition this car is in, and they have many more miles on the car and NO records of maintenance. I have seen people selling these cars in clean condition from $15 to $16,000 I am only asking $15000.....make that $13495. Please email me for larger pictures and more info.

P.S. please keep in mind that you may find other M3's listed at a lower price, but I bet they have not had the very expensive Clutch and Flywheel replaced along with many of the other preventative maintanence items on my list. Many have been abused and have worn out parts that need to be replaced, which would cost $$$. Why not get one that has had all the known issues already taken care of.

Why does it matter what anybody else thinks? It's not my money...

What are any other M3's like that are for sale near you? How does it stack up to them.

If this was the only M3 for sale in the country, would that change your mind?

Sedans are rare, but not rare enough to justify this price. on paper, seems like a nice car, but should be closer to 11-12grand.

Sorry, but WTF? do you live in the same town? The same state?

The car may not be worth that to YOU. But you can't ever say what it may be worth to someone else, or tell anybody what they should pay.

In fact If I were a seller, I'd get right pissed when you stick your nose in where it doesn't belong. In fact, I think the moderators should ban and lock all threads that have to do with "what's my/this/any car" worth... I mean they guy isn't your little brother, and all you are doing is helping to lower whatever value your car has.

To tell the truth, you should be say, Yep, it's worth every penny, in fact more...lol

            Just saying.

If you can talk him down maybe a grand or two on the price this would be an acceptable deal. I think a lot of people will just see the initial cost and compare it to the mileage while overlooking all of the mandatory maintenance that has been done. Maintenance that typically has to be done on a used E36 which costs a couple grand anyway.

The OP asked for an opinion, I provided mine. Why? Because I was in the market for a similar car just a few months ago, and did a NATIONAL search. It was my SECOND M3 and I know these cars well.

Where he lives is irrelevant if he is willing to travel for the car. I went to Columbus, Ohio to get my car to bring back to NYC. For the right price, I would have gone to Hawaii.

If he knew it was a good deal, he wouldn't be posting. He was unsure, as these cars are rare and the sample size is getting smaller
                .

As for the seller being upset, he has every right to price it whereever he wants. He could think it is worth $30k, and he could justify it. But market forces will either cause him to lower it or realize it is worth more to him. He should have no beef with anyone saying otherwise. My dictating my observation of market pricing is not bringing down his car value.

Sure, they call that collusion. Have fun with that.

                Just saying.

To the OP, the car looks worth investigating. As always, get the car inspected, and get a thorough maintenance record review. For the price, you should expect something pristine. If not, and you have the patience and ability to travel for the right car, then keep searching.

I'm not your buddy or the posters....

Collusion...lol Yea right. That's the free market system... Diamonds, oil, and NBA, MLB, and NFL owners collude to fix prices and production.

Go to sell your house. I'll just stand there and every time someone comes to look at it I start yelling, IT'S OVER PRICED< DON"T PAY MORE THAN X... I wouldn't be surprised if I got shot... It really is NONE of your business, unless he's related to you and you like him...

A further danger of the interweb...lol

Houses are different, but you still could do that. Your post reminds me of something that really disgusts me. People at this point in time have a tendency to be scared of everything and back down too easily.

Don't criticize his price he'll shoot you! Don't honk at the driver who just cut you off, he might have a 12 gauge! etc.

This is actually the first time I am buying a used car like this, so I have no idea how it works. I knew I should get an inspection, but how? I am going to see the car tomorrow and going to test drive it. Should I get an inspection done then too? He says he has all maintenance records too.

                          It works.

Have the front end looked at closely. Hard to tell from these pics, but looks like some alignment issues plus the fog deletes could mean the front has been worked on. Get Nick (5,8&10) to chime in. He has an uncanny ability to glean subtle details from photos. The interior looks great.

Definitely get the PPI done when you go to test drive the car. Also, pull a CARFAX, although those can be incomplete.

The car looks nice, and as has been mentioned it is truly worth what you're willing to pay for it. If it checks out, it's priced well.

looking into the car further, not only are the fog lights not there but shouldn't there also be the BMW emblem on the steering wheel?
