Reprogramming the Alarm for a new FOB

I wanted to replace my current FOB with a new one.

    I ordered a new one from keylessride.com

This morning I received it. And using the steps listed out below, I tried to reprogram my new FOB with my alarm.

My problem is, I've gone through Steps 1-4 a dozen times this morning, and the alarm never does the "chirp" once, the code-learning mode never initiates.

I'm wondering where that leaves me? I'm guessing im going to need to remove the glovebox to see what alarm I really do have. Im just hunting for advice on what to look for, or if there are any measures to take that I may have missed.

    thanks!

    Reprogramming a new FOB steps:

The sequence in steps 1-4 must be performed within 45 seconds.

    1. Open the trunk and leave it open.

    2. Open the driver's door and sit in the driver's seat.

    3. Close the driver's door.

    4. Cycle the ignition switch five times. on off, on off, on off, on off, on off The red status LED will illuminate continuously, and the siren will "chirp" once, to indicate that the code-learning mode has been initiated.

The ignition switch cycling in step 4 must be performed within 10 seconds.

    5. Open driver's door, (remain seated in driver's seat)

    6. Close driver's door.

    7. Press and release "ARM", then press and release "DISARM". Next Hold "ARM" for about 10sec and release it. Then Hold "DISARM" for about 10sec and release it.

    8. Repeat step 7 to register any other remotes.

    9. Open driver's door, and exit from vehicle, leaving the door opened.

    10. Close trunk.

    11. Close driver's door. The LED will turn off and the siren will "chirp" twice.

    12. The initialization procedure is now completed, test all remotes to confirm operation.

If that is the fob you are using, it looks like you have the wrong one.

That looks like the same viper fob I have. You have to follow viper's procedure and not BMW's.

Ya the PO gave me 2 keys with 2 FOBs, and both FOBs look like the one I pictured.

I guess I'm gonna have to pull the glove box out and find out what I really have down there.

Fortunately I've already purchased a new airfilter, I'll make use of it while I'm in there.

fob is not an abbreviation, it is a noun, no caps
