it should be plug-and-play...compare the plug and pin-pattern of the new hfm w/ the old one, are they the same? post up some pics if you have some, you may have the wrong hfm, where'd you get it from?

You may not have a euro MAF, what are the numbers?

Having the same problem here. I have a Bosch #0 280 217 800 1 702 078. My plug pattern is different so is there an adapter for the plug or can I "swap" the female ends from my old hfm with this one? '98 M3 btw. Looking at Turner website now I noticed that there kits include either 803 or 089 hfms and I have an 800. Ugh, guess the ebay seller was wrong. Anyone want to swap? Mine is brand new never installed.

You may have to convert from the small plug to the big plug. This can be done. It is how it was done in the old days using the 540i HFM. I did it about 9 years ago. As I recall the pin numbers also change and you must be aware of the change when you wire in the new plug.

But these days most tunes (but not all) use the Porsche Bosch HFM -803 and no plug change is required (although it is necessary to bridge the grounds). All 3.5 inch HFMs are not interchangeable with all tunes. You must use the one specified for your tune.
