I'm thinking of doing that too. Is that the Bimmerworld kit? I was wondering if the reinforcements make the pocket lip thicker so that longer bolts are needed?

Looks like the reinforcement piecs pretty much sit flush with the flat spots on the threaded holes. I can't remember the exact shape of the brackets though and whether or not they just make contact with the flat spots around the holes.

The plates sit flush with the threaded bungs. No need for longer bolts, as there is plenty of thread engagement.

Looks good, dude. I hated doing mine. Hated it.

Appears the pockets were in good shape going in...

I probably need to have this done. I know nobody with a welder so I guess I'm gonna have to take it up to the shop

I heard you can use a Hot Glue Gun, or Pop rivets in a Pinch. <G>

The weather does look nice there. Just wondering, to get access to prep and weld, what has to come off the rear before you can proceed? Just the shocks?

wheel, shocks, rear trail arm unbolted from the pocket. Put a jack stand or a jack under the rear shock bottom mounting point to trail arm assembly. Use a thick cloth to rest it on the jack stand to support, rather then just letting it hang.

I guess this should provide enough space to do the prep work.

I sleep so much better after having done this a few weeks ago...this and a wired oil pump nut!

                              +1 for important preventative maintenance.
