    I hate body roll

So lately I have been noticing that my car seems to have too much body roll for my taste under cornering. The ENTIRE suspension just got a refresh besides for the sway bars. The springs are used but I am not sure if they would really be the problem although I was thinking about replacing them with some H&R sports. To me it seems like I might need some stiffer sway bars, and I was thinking about going with UUC's SwayBarbarian kit or maybe Turner's kit. What do you guys think? Get one of these kits or just leave it alone.

The reason you have body roll is in part due to the roll bars and in part due to having progressive springs.

What struts are you running with the springs?

What springs are you running? Used springs will sag over time.

If you do decide to do swaybars, I highly recommend the Hotchkis bars. They are hollow, therefore light, 33MM in front and if you get the rear bar as well it comes with a fix for the crappy sway bar tabs.

Here is a link to an install I did of them: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1493882

My suspension is completely OEM. I like the sound of the hotchkis kit, but do I need to upgrade my suspension in other ways to really get rid of the roll? I love the way it rides, just not the way it acts under hard cornering.

I mean the suspension is definitely kick ass compared to what I came from, but i did spend some time cruising in my dad's e46 M before I got my e36 so maybe I am just being way to critical.

Don't do springs without proper struts, it will trash the oem struts. That said, it's likely you have enough miles that your stock equipment is worn out anyways and needs replacement.

If you are reusing your old springs then that is part of the reason you feel the roll. The springs fatigue from use. Fresh OEM struts and springs would make a noticeable difference, H&R paired with Koni's would be a step up. Sway bars can be added either to OEM or aftermarket set ups with great results.

The E46 M is stiffer than the E36 from the factory (less body roll, worse ride--everything is a compromise).

No need to do the rear bar, honestly--but a bigger front bar and springs (probably paired with shocks) is what you want. This is a slippery slope though. If you want a good ride and less body roll you're talking about good coil-overs with street rates.

This is what I was afraid of hah. I would love some coilovers but everything under the car is brand new aside from springs and was replaced about 1000 miles ago so it just doesn't make sense. I might buy some new oem springs just for the peace of mind, but I guess I was wondering if putting the front bar on would help minimize my body roll at all. Or maybe getting an x-brace with a front strut tower brace along with it would help stiffen things up even more.

X-brace and non-hinged strut bar will stiffen the chassis but not reduce body roll.

The front bar will help a lot and Bleeds Blue is correct, the rear is not needed.

I didn't mean so much wear out as sag. Even Vogtlands sag a quarter inch after a while. You are most definitely right about the bolsters not helping though.

no need to get defensive about the maker of your bars........it s a swaybar, it s hard to mess that up as you've obviously noticed from having it for 5 years....if it works and it works well, no need to change it

I'm running Konis, OE springs, and UUC sways (full soft rear, mid setting front), with an Ireland strut brace and X brace and a square 235 tire size, and the car has a good amount of grip, very little roll, and it's pretty neutral. Ride is a bit harsh.

I don't track it, but it rotates nicely when auto-xing.

exactly.... its pretty tough to mess up a swaybar. About the only thing I have left on my car that's UUC, except the clutch bushings, and SS clutch line
