You can forget coverage for the whole car to be painted in Mass. Insurance here = pissing up a rope!



What is the mark, is it actually a scratch or could it carefully be removed?

Yeah, thats what I'm expecting. Mass does suck when it comes to insurance, registering, basically anything car related.



Its 2 really deep scatches (which are the long ones that run from pass. door to rear quarter) and then there are a couple lighter scratches...



It drives me crazy because the car goes in a garage when I'm at work and I have a garage at my house. The only time its left outside is when I'm running errands

I know every insurance company is different but did you have to battle it out with them for it to be repainted? The last thing I want is a sh*tty paint job on a car I love...

well, back in 1999 when this happened.. my e36 m3 was worth ~ 30k. so for my insurance to fork out $5k was not that bad.



but with today's e36 m3 prices it may be harder. just have your insurance quote you a repair price. then go find a body shop who can do it at that price. else, you may have to come out of pocket.

I would think you could get the whole side done. They should cover any panel that the scratch touched.

You aren't required to use the shop your insurance company recommends, so don't let them intimidate you.

I'm open to hearing about good and bad shops! I'll be going Wednesday to have it looked at. I'm a couple miles North of Boston but I'd be willing to travel if the shop is really good!

Thats the first thing I did when I got home. I called the gym and asked. Unfortinatly, they only have a camera aimed at the front door and it slightly views the front of the parking lot. Of course, like usual, I parked my car away from all other cars to avoid door dings/etc and of course this happens!
